Community Church Ministry

Community Church Ministry Neighborhood ministry. Going to where people live to share the love of God. Trailer Park Ministry? Apartment Ministry? What's the point? There's too many churches!

I get it... There's a church on every corner. Why do church in a trailer park or apartment? I agree, to a point...

But, even though there are so many churches, people are staying away in record numbers... There are too many "reasons" to list. Since they are staying away, they are not hearing the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ...

It affects this generation, and the next... There ar

e children who have never heard the Word...

Broken lives are everywhere. Drug abuse and alcoholism is rampant...

If people aren't coming... Why not go to them? But, it takes thinking outside the box, doing things differently...

It means being willing to go in there and meet some physical needs too...

I won't go into too much detail here, but let me finish this with a true story...

A few years ago, we did a Thursday night dinner/ small group in a small trailer park in Rome. We met in a small room next to the laundromat. I walked through the neighborhood to look for people to invite to dinner. I met Jason who was walking near his house. I invited him, and he said he needed to ask his dad. After getting permission, we walked together to the meeting place. Jason told me he had never been to church before...

That night, Jason raised his hand, and accepted Christ as his Savior. That's why we go...

"... Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house may be full." Luke 14:23

Pass It On

“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭6‬ ‭

I met a man named Steve, a retired engineer and building contractor. He said his dad was a physician who practiced for over 40 years. Steve shared that his dad was a great doctor with a wealth of knowledge.
However, he said that his dad died without sharing his insight with the next generation, which could've benefitted from his knowledge.
This has prompted Steve to start teaching an online plumbing course. In this way, he can share his expertise with the next generation.
Moses reminded the children of Israel about the importance of passing knowledge to the next generation in Deuteronomy 11:19. "Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up…"
Unfortunately, after the death of Joshua, who succeeded Moses, and the elders of that generation, the children of Israel didn't know the Lord...
“All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel.”
‭‭Judges‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭
Because they didn't know the Lord, they started to follow other gods, with disastrous results.
Let's remember to share our knowledge with the next generation. Your wisdom will make a difference in their lives!

“We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children, That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children, That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments,”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭78:4-7‬ ‭

September Community Church Ministry Newsletter

Way back in 2014, we were ministering in two neighborhoods, Berrywood Apartments and Dutch Gardens MHP.
A lot has happened since then. God has allowed us to go to more than 12 neighborhoods!
We are very thankful to God for the success He has given us over the years.
But, we are not resting on our laurels. There are so many places we need to go to.
CCM would love for you to come with us. We are looking for groups and individuals to help us in existing neighborhoods and go into new territories.
* Please pray that more volunteers will answer the call and for resources.
* We are also in the process of paying for hoodies for our Christmas outreach. Any help is appreciated!

Here’s the September schedule, Lord willing. (We start at 6:30.)
Darlington MHP Thursday the 3rd
Dutch Gardens on Thursday the 10th
Callier Forest on Monday the 14th
Pine Village on Thursday the 17th
Ashland Park Apts Monday the 21st

We are so grateful for your continued support! May God bless you!

Having Fun Getting It Done!

"Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:23-24‬ ‭

The late Harvey Palmer was a friend of mine. He was a Methodist minister and leader. I met him years ago when I worked at Chick-fil-A. He would come in for breakfast with a group of Methodist ministers.
One day I visited his office. He had a plaque that said:
"HAVING FUN GETTING IT DONE."
We all have a lot to do in our jobs, but do we truly enjoy our vocation?
Sometimes we get bogged down in the details and the mundane tasks.
But what if we could look beyond the drudgery and find joy as we work?
Certainly it helps to remember who we are working for. Not man, but God.
"Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:23-24‬ ‭
God hasn't forgotten your work...
"For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, by having served and by still serving the saints." Hebrews 6:10
I can truly say I enjoy the work I do as a chaplain and Pastor.
I think it helps to remember "why" you do what you do.
In your vocation, what aspects of the job do you enjoy? As a chaplain, I enjoy hearing the stories of the people I minister to. Sometimes they apologize for talking so long.
I tell them not to apologize, their stories are like gold...
What is the "gold" of your vocation?
Take time to look for it... It's there!
Remember, your labor is not in vain!
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:58‬ ‭

Hidden Gems

“Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni tutored the king’s sons.”
‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭27‬:‭32‬ ‭

What is a hidden gem? Wikipedia defines it as: "Something possessing a value or beauty that is not immediately apparent, which therefore has received far less recognition than it deserves."
I picture someone digging in the backyard and finding a hidden treasure.
When reading a genealogy, a list of names, we tend to hurry through it. But, sometimes you find a hidden gem like this one:
“Also Jonathan, David’s uncle, was a counselor, a man of understanding, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni tutored the king’s sons.”
‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭27‬:‭32‬ ‭
This verse highlights 2 men.
First one is Jonathan, David's uncle. He is described as a counselor, man of understanding.
Though he was not well known, he gave good counsel with the wisdom God gave him.
Solomon said:
“Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in abundance of counselors there is victory.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11‬:‭14‬ ‭
The other one is Jehiel. He was a teacher who got to teach the king's sons. We all know the value of a good educator, one who can skillfully guide a child in their learning.
Quoting Solomon again:
“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭6‬ ‭
Like Jonathan and Jehiel, you may not get much recognition, but what you do is important.
Remember to work for the Lord and that your labor counts.
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭58‬ ‭
