Pass It On
“Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6
I met a man named Steve, a retired engineer and building contractor. He said his dad was a physician who practiced for over 40 years. Steve shared that his dad was a great doctor with a wealth of knowledge.
However, he said that his dad died without sharing his insight with the next generation, which could've benefitted from his knowledge.
This has prompted Steve to start teaching an online plumbing course. In this way, he can share his expertise with the next generation.
Moses reminded the children of Israel about the importance of passing knowledge to the next generation in Deuteronomy 11:19. "Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up…"
Unfortunately, after the death of Joshua, who succeeded Moses, and the elders of that generation, the children of Israel didn't know the Lord...
“All that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them who did not know the Lord, nor yet the work which He had done for Israel.”
Judges 2:10
Because they didn't know the Lord, they started to follow other gods, with disastrous results.
Let's remember to share our knowledge with the next generation. Your wisdom will make a difference in their lives!
“We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children, That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children, That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments,”
Psalms 78:4-7
