Everything is just about ready. Come early as we’ve had a wonderful surge in online orders, especially for Brunswick stew and half chickens.

Plates and bulk orders are available; dine in, carryout or drive-through

Open until 2 p.m. or sold out. Cash, check or credit card. All proceeds returned to Rome nonprofits supported by the Knights.

Rome's best barbecue returns Labor Day, Sept. 1, 2025, courtesy of the Knights of Columbus. Join us from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. or sold out at the Rome Civic Center for dine-in or carry out. Advance orders available at www.romebbq.com.

The menu includes barbecue pork, beef, ribs or chicken; pork carnitas; Brunswick stew; baked beans; and more.

Order by the pound or quart, or get plates the day of the sale.

All proceeds are returned to the community via the nonprofits supported by the Knights.

Pork, beef, ribs, chicken, carnitas on the menu for Knights’ 57th annual Labor Day BBQ

Sept. 1, 2025 -- Carryout and dine-in service for the 57th edition of the Knights of Columbus Labor Day Barbecue is set for Monday, Sept. 1, at the Rome Civic Center.

Online preorders have begun for bulk carryout-only sales of barbecue, Brunswick stew, chicken, ribs, carnitas and baked beans. You can order until Aug. 31 at www.romebbq.com. The menu:

Half rack of ribs, $20.
Pound of pulled beef barbecue, $12.
Pound of pulled pork barbecue, $12.
Pound of pork carnitas, $12.
Quart of Brunswick stew, $12.
Half a chicken, $12.
Quart of baked beans, $10.

Indoor dining also is available with plates selling for $12 each and featuring your choice of pork, beef, chicken or carnitas with baked beans, coleslaw, bread, chips, tea or lemonade.

The civic center doors and the drive-through lane open at 10 a.m. on Labor Day and continue until 2 p.m. or sold out. Credit cards, checks and cash will be accepted at the civic center.

The Knights are preparing roughly 700 pounds of pork, 200 pounds of beef, 150 half chickens, 275 half racks of ribs, 550 quarts of Brunswick stew and 150 quarts of baked beans.

All proceeds are returned to our community. The Knights have donated $325,000 to date, including Haven Health Clinic, Mercy Senior Care, Habitat for Humanity, Aid to Veterans, Network Day Services, Coats for Kids, Special Olympics, Rome Community Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity and others.

“We’ve been meeting since late June to prepare this celebration of community,” says Greg Armstrong, barbecue chair. “The Knights of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and their families each invest dozens of hours preparing to greet the generous new and familiar faces on Labor Day. We once again promise to deliver Rome’s best barbecue.”
