Parkview Baptist Church of Rome, GA

Parkview Baptist Church of Rome, GA Parkview Baptist Church of Rome, Georgia opened on September 14, 2014. With the establishing Pastor Roger D. Lanter and wife Teresa A. Lanter. The Pastor Roger D.

Parkview Baptist Church of Rome, Georgia acquired the building of the former Wesley Methodist Church. On September 10, 2014 the church officially became the Parkview Baptist Church of Rome, GA Inc. Lanter came from the ATCO Baptist Church in Cartersville, Georgia.Pastor Lanter and his wife Teresa Lanter had served in several denomination and as a military Chaplain. They had been members of the ATC

O Baptist Church and was sent first as a mission to work with the former Methodist Church. Dr. Paul Camp who was also a Baptist had retired after 4 years at the Methodist church due to health and age. The Methodist congregation had only about 12 attending when the Lanter's came to pastor. With several events came some growth reaching at one point 32 attending. But the congregation was just up and down with the same 10 or 12 coming regular. After almost a year the church elected to leave the Methodist seeking to follow Pastor Lanter into the Southern Baptist Association. Several of the former Methodist Church members left not wishing to follow the will of the church in its change to Baptist. But God provided several new people to replace those that had gone. The official day of opening was held on September 14, 2014. The attendance on this day was 70 and a new wonderful spirit came with it. Many leaders from the Southern Baptist along with a U.S Congressman and others attended this important openning Day celebration. God is now blessing and we look forward to working in our local community and the city of Rome in the future.

A SERIOUS PROBLEM

Church Members seem to be unconcerned about their own church. We have a problem today with so many who join our church but attend rarely. Some attend once every 6 or 7 months while others it has been so long most wouldn't have a clue that you are members of the church. This is a serious problem for local churches. We see churches closing that have a good size membership list but close do to lack of attendance and financial support. Then these same members who never show are upset about the closings. This doesn't reflect on the faithful it reflects on the unfaithful. Churches have insurance, power bill's for lights air and heat. Sunday school materials, choir needs, office materials, Yard work and upkeep. Pastor, Associate, music minister's and secretary and staff to pay. Membership is not just a name on the rolls of a church. It is a responsibility as a part of a church. As I see churches closing and a seemingly lack of concern for attendance and support from my own congregation it is clear to me that God and his work has become second in the life of church members. Most dont seem to care if their church closes or not. It is shameful to see churches with enough names on its membership roll to have a vital and strong impact for God but close due to lack of support. When the church closes don't blame the faithful who attend every service. No take a look at yourself and others who are to busy doing everything else and never give Gods work at your church a second thought. Such a sad sight driving past a church up for sale and closed. Not because of out growing the building just lack of support from many of its members. There are some who never miss a service and are faithful and do all they can do. For those it is even sadder because they do their part faithfully. Our nation is suffering, our communities are suffering, our local churches are suffering..... God and your local church would love to see you attending church. Come back and see what's happening in your church .... we hope to see you this SUNDAY. If not you will show up one Sunday and your church is gone...

A very special friend Pastor Rev. Darrell Bailey from Peeples Valley Baptist Church in Cartersville, GA will be my guest speaker at our Homecoming September 16, 2018. He was my pastor when I was Ordained 11 years ago as a Baptist. They loved us so much through our loss of our home to a Tornado and my serious car accident and recovery. He and I worked together in the military as a UMT (Unit Ministry Team) as he was my Chaplain Assistant as a Sergeant. His wife and I both grew up in Hawaii and she is a wonderful woman. These are some great friends and I look forward to his speaking at our church.

I am so excited to announce a special upcoming training for those who truly are willing to see God move in our church. This is only for those who desire to prove God can and will empower his people to do his work. This will separate those who talk but do little from those who are truly following God. I am preparing myself along with others to step out in faith and watch God work. I will be announcing the start of this soon ....... stay tuned for more.

I was just thinking what if Jesus came to visit you today inquiring as to why you were unable to attend church last Sunday. Would you answer the door and invite him in? If he told you he would like to pray for you once you told him you were sick. He prayed so you would be healed for next Sunday would you say I'll be there? Were you being truthful? Infact were you sick or just covering for an excuse. You know telling a lie surely not to Jesus. But you didn't want to tell him the truth that you had more important things to do like go fishing, work in the yard, sleep late, or meet up with friends for a day of shopping your truth would make you look bad in front of Jesus. Would you think I wish you would not come over unexpected it makes me uncomfortable and guilty feeling. The visit is to show his concern for you and his love for your wellbeing. Cannot wait for him to leave you. You need to know he sees you and knows the truth every Sunday. What if he did leave you like you have him. Yeah that guilt is because you know your wrong in giving excuses. We hope to see you at church this Sunday no excuses.....
