What an incredible day at Priscilla Shirer Live! 💜🙌
Today marked the 20th anniversary of Priscilla Shirer Live… twenty years of gathering women around the Word of God, and what a special day to be there!
Jackie Hill Perry was there too, and the conversation with Jackie, Priscilla, and Priscilla’s son, JC, was one of my favorite parts of the day. There was SO much to take in, but these are some of the words I don’t want to forget:
✨ “Gifted is easy. Character is really hard.”
✨ “What’s in your parenthesis?”
Obadiah had position and influence, but Scripture tells us what mattered underneath it all:
“Obadiah feared the Lord greatly.” - 1 Kings 18:3
Who are we when we strip away the titles, positions, accomplishments, influence, and applause? What would be written in the parenthesis beside our names?
✨ Instead of only asking, “God, why is this happening?” ask, “God, what is this revealing?”
✨ “I don’t have a map. I just have Jesus.”
✨ “If He does not change the thing, I have to believe that You’re changing me… and to change me is always good.”
✨ “Hope is hard because we’re not omniscient.”
✨ God may use isolation to quiet competing voices.
✨ My gift is not evidence of my character.
✨ My influence is not evidence of intimacy with God.
And one of my absolute favorites:
✨ “You have not just been redeemed FROM something. You have been redeemed TO something.”
The thread running through the entire day was so clear:
God is forming us into the image of Christ.
Through His Word. Through waiting. Through weakness. Through suffering. Through relationships. And even through the things we wish He would change.
Priscilla brought us to Colossians 3:1–2:
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is… Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
We belong to another Kingdom. We represent another King. 👑
And we cannot allow the “low-level” things right in front of us to become our entire field of vision.
When they do…
“Keep recalibrating yourself up.” 🙌
Set your heart above.
Set your mind above.
Remember who you are.
Remember Whose you are.
So thankful for the 27 ladies from our church who were able to experience this special day together, and even more thankful for the truth we get to carry home with us. 💜
What a day. What a Word. What a faithful God.
