As the season of Holy Week kicks off tomorrow, I reflect on the Jewish Passover Seder Song of Dayenu. Perhaps you have been keeping up with the ANGEL streaming service show, THE CHOSEN. In a scene that encapsulates the power of God's grace and mercy, the women who are serving in Jesus' ministry share their own version of the Dayenu song with Jesus. This is a spoiler alert, as this scene takes place near the end of the latest season, so you might want to hold off on watching this if you have not yet seen it. I've watched this scene at least a half-dozen times and it stirs my soul with fire every time. But whether or not you watch this, no matter where you are in your life, take time to count every blessing. The fact that this scene is moving is not just for great dramatic effect, but it should cause all people to see if they could give back all but one of their blessings, look to the Lord, and say to Him, "it would have been enough."

A SUNDAY TO REMEMBER PEACE

The Second Sunday of Advent is the Sunday that we reflect on the nature of peace as God intends peace for the world. Jesus said that he "did not come to bring peace, but a sword" (Matthew 10:34).

This does not mean that Jesus came to bring war. This means that there are people who will struggle and fight to have that relationship with Him. Though people are at odds or in conflict, the nature of conflict comes from very dark forces, and it is here where our true struggle lies (see Ephesians 6:10-20).

We were formed in the womb into the image of God (Psalm 139), so we all have a stake in seeking light verses staying in darkness. Do not let the dark forces separate you from the light and the love that is found in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Share this light and good news with everyone you can. And if this love is not reciprocated, do not be discouraged. Share love and peace, in spite of the darkness. Jesus loved and forgave, even as he died on the cross.
