Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me. - Matthew 19:14

Jesus welcomed the little children when others tried to turn them away.

We have a responsibility to encourage the next generation, and people of all ages, to come to know Him!

We also looked at the rich young ruler, a man who seemingly had everything the world could offer, yet knew something was missing.

"It wasn't just that he had many possessions. It was that those possessions had him."

And Pastor Mac left us with a question worth considering: What's that one thing that's got a hold of you that you're not letting go of yet?

Whether it's pride, guilt, unforgiveness, possessions, or something else, Jesus calls us to surrender it all and put Him first.

Salvation isn't about what we can do for God. It's about what Jesus has already done for us!

May we be a church that never hinders anyone from coming to Jesus, and may we live each day fully surrendered to Him.

Sunday in Bible Study the focus was "God Became A Man." Then at just the right time, God came to earth as a man. This man was His Son, Jesus. Jesus walked among people. He ate with them and taught them about God.

"The Bible is not a tool in the toolbox. It is the toolbox."

"When it gets cold outside, don't make the mistake of thinking that the fire of God's Word is not enough to keep the church warm. It is more than enough.
It's always been more than enough.'

"When we put our own voice over the voice of Scripture, we will then put our voice over everything else."

"As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." - 2 Timothy 4:5

If the music, screens, comfortable chairs, and conveniences were taken away, would God's Word still be enough to bring us together?

May we be a church that never loses sight of the sufficiency of God's Word - ordinary people making ordinary sacrifices for God's extraordinary work.

His Word is enough. It always has been.

Sunday in Service our focus was Matthew 19:1-9 "The Pharisees Attempt To Trap Jesus"

The Pharisees attempted to trap Jesus with one of the controversial questions of their day. Rather than getting pulled into their debate, Jesus pointed them back to God's Word, God's design for marriage, and God's heart for people.

1. The Pharisees tried to trap Jesus in a current controversy.
2. Jesus points them back to God's original design for marriage.
3. Jesus calls for faithfulness and sacrifice and commitment.
4. Jesus cares about people, and He wants to heal our hurts.

In a culture where women had very few rights and could easily be cast aside, Jesus' words affirmed their dignity and value while calling His followers to a higher standard of faithfulness, sacrifice, and commitment.

The Pharisees were focused on what they could legally get away with. Jesus brought the focus back to what God intended from the beginning.
