Called to Serve: Living as a Servant of God
In a world that often measures success by recognition and position, God calls His people to a different path—the path of humble service. To be a servant of God is not simply about religious activity, but about offering one’s life completely to His will.
Scripture reminds us of this calling: “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me” (Luke 9:23). True servanthood begins when self is surrendered and Christ becomes the center.
Jesus Himself is our greatest example. “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve” (Mark 10:45). He chose humility, compassion, and sacrifice. Following Him means choosing the same path.
Through my own journey with God, I have learned that serving Him often happens in simple, quiet ways. One of the greatest blessings in my life has been being part of our feeding ministry. What began as a small step of obedience became a powerful lesson in love, humility, and faith.
There are days when resources seem limited and strength feels low. Yet, God always provides—sometimes through unexpected donations, sometimes through encouraging words, and sometimes through renewed strength in prayer. In these moments, I understand the truth of Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He shall direct your paths.”
As meals are prepared and shared, I realized that we are not only feeding bodies, but also touching hearts. Every smile, every “thank you,” and every prayer offered reminds me that serving others is serving Christ Himself. Jesus said, “I was hungry and you gave Me food” (Matthew 25:35).
Through this ministry, His words become real and personal.
Serving God through feeding others has taught me patience, compassion, and dependence on Him. It has shown me that no act of love is too small when done for His glory. As Paul writes, “Serve one another in love” (Galatians 5:13). Each plate served becomes an act of worship.
Though there are times of challenge (building repairs)—times of exhaustion, discouragement, and doubt. God’s Word keeps me grounded: “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord” (Colossians 3:23). Even if no one notices, God saw. Even when I'm weak, He was strong.
To be a servant of God is to live with a willing heart. It is to say “yes” when God calls, even when the road is uncertain. Romans 12:1 reminds believers to offer their lives as living sacrifices. Through the Help Station Ministry, I learn that sacrifice brings joy, and obedience brings peace.
Today, I continue to walk this journey with gratitude. Serving God through feeding others has deepened my faith and strengthened my love for people. It has taught me that true greatness is found in humility and faithfulness. Even though, I am used in many areas as a servant of God, the Help Station has been my greatest blessing.
Life is hard right now for the Weir family. I've not been able to be as hands on as I am use to being with the Help Station. But God has supplied all that is needed to keep my heart in full operation for His glory! I give him all the praise!
My prayer is that every believer will discover their own place of service. Whether through feeding, teaching, encouraging, or praying, God uses willing hearts. And in the end, the greatest reward will be hearing Him say: “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21).
The goal of The Help Station is to provide homebound seniors or other qualified clients with a prepared meal delivered to their home.
