Turners in Tanzania Friends and Partners,
We have an exciting announcement to make: As of this week, we are finally full-time missionaries.
This past Sunday, Tim preached his final sermon at San Augustine Methodist Church, and we said our farewells to a congregation we have loved deeply for six years. It was a sacred and emotional day — full of the kind of weeping and embracing that only happens between people who have genuinely walked together through hard and holy things.
It was the kind of farewells that reminded us of the Apostle Paul on the shores of Miletus in Acts 20 weeping and praying and saying farewell to the Elders of the churches in Ephesus. Paul was continuing on in his own missionary journey, fulfilling the calling of God and entrusting those in Ephesus to the grace of God. A biblical moment full of weeping that we had a personal experience of this past Sunday.
But we left that shore with one word ringing in our ears — the last words Jesus ever spoke to His disciples before the Ascension: "I AM with you always — to the very end of the age."
That promise of God is what makes the "going" of the Great Commission possible. We are not heading to Tanzania because we have it all figured out. We are going because we are compelled by the Spirit — and held by the same I AM who has faithfully held us every step of the way.
We officially relocate to Mwanza, Tanzania on July 6. Between now and then, we have transition work to complete and families to visit. But the ship (plane) is waiting at the shores (airport) — and we are ready.
Thank you for being part of what makes this possible. Your prayers and your partnership are what put missionaries on the field - and we know you are, in many ways, going with us every step of the way.
