From the beginning, God has used this ministry to create friendships, provide encouragement, offer respite for caregivers, and remind every Friend that they are wonderfully made, accepted and loved.

The impact of SonShine Club reaches far beyond our walls.

For 15 years, volunteers have given their time, churches have opened their doors, supporters have shared resources, and caregivers have found hope knowing they are not alone.

Thousands of volunteer hours have been poured into loving and serving our Friends. Thousands of hours of respite have been provided to caregivers who faithfully care for their loved ones every single day. And most importantly, countless people have heard about the love and salvation of Jesus Christ.

This ministry is proof that when a community comes together with compassion and faith, lives are transformed.

For many of our Friends, SonShine Club is more than a program — it is a place where they belong. A place where they are celebrated, encouraged, and reminded that they are deeply loved by Jesus.

Over the last 15 years:

As we celebrate 15 years of SonShine Club, we are reminded that this ministry has has always been about people.

It’s about Friends discovering they are loved and valued.
It’s about caregivers realizing they are not alone.
It’s about volunteers answering God’s call to serve.
And it’s about sharing the hope of Jesus with every life we touch.

These 15 years are a testimony of God’s goodness, and we believe the best is still ahead. Thank you for walking this journey with us and helping us continue to shine His light in the Upstate. 💛

As we reflect back on 15 years, our hearts are overwhelmed with gratitude for every person who has been part of this journey. ❤️

We have witnessed so many testimonies, answered prayers, and countless stories. Do you have a favorite story or memory from the SonShine Club? Please share below so that others will know the impact this ministry has had on you and your family.

Mine is the Andre' Story:
Years back, Andre' came to visit SSC with his Aunt. He was from a foreign country and could not speak our language. His Aunt interpreted for him and gave us a few instructions, including that he was on a special diet and had brought his lunch. We welcomed Andre' in and included him in all activities and made him feel welcome. At the end of the day, we wondered if Andre' had a good time and felt welcome because he could not understand us, but we hoped he would be back again. The next time we met, Andre' came back and brought his family with him. We welcomed them, even though they could not speak English either. His Aunt shared with us that Andre' kept asking, in his native language, to go to "Church". It took her a little bit to realize what He was asking because they had not visited any church's in the area yet. Soon, she realized Andre' was asking to go back to SonShine Club!! He felt Jesus at SonShine Club. It was not because of the message Brian preached or the songs we sang, because he did not understand English. It was not because of the lunch, because he brought his own. It was not because of something we said, it was all because of what we did....we loved him just like Jesus would! Our volunteers welcomed Andre' in, made him feel welcome and accepted, and he felt Jesus there and wanted to come back! Andre' is till with us today and has brought back more of his family to share in this ministry.

Over the past 15 years, SonShine Club has been filled with unforgettable moments.

Moments of Friends singing worship songs from their heart.
Moments of caregivers finding encouragement, rest, and friendship.
Moments of volunteers serving with compassion, love and humility.
Moments of laughter, celebration, prayer, friendship, and lives being changed by Jesus.

Every Super Saturday, field trip, Night to Shine, Bible lesson, craft, hug, and smile has helped create a place where everyone belongs.

Looking back reminds us just how faithful God has been through every season, prayer, board meeting, training, Super Saturday, and more. 🌟
