I Don’t Have to Visit God. We can be roommates.
We sometimes imagine God’s presence as something we have to find. Seek.
We go looking for it in church.
In worship.
In a beautiful song. Nature.
In a powerful message.
In a crisis.
But Psalm 91 gives us another picture.
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High...”
Dwells.
Jesus takes it even further: “We will come to them and make our home with them.”
God isn’t looking for weekend visitors, or to be your emergency contact.
God isn't interested in an occasional appointment.
God wants relationship.
Residence. Presence. Home.
So today, practice noticing.
Before you reach for your phone, sit quietly for sixty seconds. Take a breath.
Say: “God, you are here.”
Then go about your day.
When you get in the car: “God, you are here.”
When you’re frustrated: “God, you are here.”
When something beautiful happens: “God, you are here.”
When you don’t know what to do: “God, you are here.”
The goal isn’t to make God present.
The goal is to become present to the God who is already present.
This week, don’t just check in. Stay.
Your Mantra: I don’t have to visit God.
I can live with God. God is already here.
I will stay.
