He is currently married to the lovely Francine Leonard; they have five children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He received his education at Northern Nash High School in Rocky Mount, North Carolina as well as North Carolina A&T State University, Shaw University (Raleigh

, NC), and Trinity College in Seminary, Newburg, IN. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1961, at the young age of 8. In 1996, he accepted his call to preach the Gospel and has been serving as senior pastor since August 2004 at Marks Chapel Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, NC.
