A firefly, glowing with a light meant to dazzle the night, found itself being pursued by a snake. Fearing for its life, the firefly paused and asked the snake, "May I ask you three questions?"

The snake, eager and menacing, replied, "Go ahead."

"Do I belong to your food chain?" the firefly inquired.

The snake answered, "No."

"Have I wronged you in any way?"

The snake responded, "No."

"Then why do you want to devour me?"

The snake's eyes narrowed as it said, "Because I can't stand to see you shine."

Moral of the story:
Sometimes, the brightest lights draw the envy of those who can’t bear to see others shine. Beware of those who, like the snake, seek to extinguish your glow simply because they cannot stand its brilliance.
