Dear friends,

I talked with Pastor Salomon this evening. He is the man in Honduras that hosts us on our Mission’s Trips. He has a church in the mountains and ministers to the families in the village of Guascupusca and beyond. He has also been the caretaker for the Orphanage in the same area. He has a need at this time to help with finances through December, especially during September. His “coffee money” will not start coming in until October. He says that $1,000 will, most likely, care for the children that are still living in the Orphanage.

The following message is from Salomon...
“God bless you. As I mentioned last time, we've been considering closing the Children's Home. We're planning to close in December.
There are many reasons, including the financial difficulties that make it hard to keep the Home running. For years, the man that built the Orphanage, gave us a small contribution from his ministry. His contributions ended last month.

Between now and December, with a lot of effort, I'll be able to cover the basics, but I know God will help me finish well. The Foundation will continue, but with social assistance to the community and Bible teaching at the facility.

It hasn't been easy for me to make these decisions. My desire has always been to help vulnerable children, but the good news is that we've helped 80 children change their lives over these 14 years. I ask for your prayers so we can best care for the children who remain, and that God will provide what we need to sustain the Home these months until December. Thank you for your continued support. God bless your family, your church, and your life.”

Salomon hopes to find jobs for the two young women in the left hand side of the table in the attached photo. The boy at the left end of the table and the girl at the far end of the table will, most likely, be placed with other family members in the area. The two boys on the right hand side are brothers, and will go to another orphanage.

Salomon will do his very best to see that the children are taken care of. It is breaking his heart to have them leave. Please keep he and his family in yours prayers as they navigate through this time of uncertainty. Pray for the children that they will be place in the perfect place for them and pray for protection over them as they move away from the safety of Salomon and his family.

The photo is the children at the mountain church in Guascupusca showing their work during Sunday School last week. Salomon and Anita will continue their ministry in the mountains, teaching, leading, helping and sharing the love of Jesus.

Our church sends them an offering each month but that will not cover all the costs they are incurring at this time. If you feel led to give any amount at this time, we will make sure it gets to them in a timely manner.

- Pastor Tim

From The River Conference page:
“Join us as we pray for all affected by the Spokane area fires. As of [August 2, 12:00 p.m.], there have been over 600+ structures (homes, etc.) have been lost. Pray that God’s mercy and presence would be tangibly felt by all affected. Pray for the Church to rise up and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

“We know there are Free Methodist church members whose homes have been lost. This is especially impacting our communities at First Free Methodist Church, Spokane and Timberview Church in Mead. Opportunity Christian Fellowship is also in the region but further from the evacuation zone. As we gather updates from our local leaders in the next few days, we’ll share opportunities for your churches to help.

“Pray especially for these congregations and leaders who are both impacted by this tragedy and in a position to bring aid and hope:

- Spokane First Church led by Pastor Mia Shin
- Timberview Church led by Pastor Kenji Nitta
- Opportunity Christian Fellowship led by Pastor Daniel Bonney”

From August 4, 2026 – The River Conference page:
“Continue praying for the families in the path of these fires, for those who are displaced in the evacuation, for our faith communities at First Free Methodist Church, Spokane Timberview Church, and Opportunity Christian Fellowship, and for Supt. James Leman and his family who also are near the area of impact.”

Please lift all those impacted up in your prayers as at this time all three wildfires near the Spokane area are not contained.
