Comment on one of the questions below from this week’s sermon on 2 Corinthians 13:11-14 ‘May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all!’ 5/31/2026

For you to teach children this week
The warm Texas afternoon mixed with friendly neighborhood kids created a very good environment to blow bubbles. The bubbles and giggles filled the air until someone popped someone else’s bubble, someone else spilled half the container of bubble mix on the driveway, and someone else wanted to use someone else’s bubble wand. With a few huffs of frustration, the very good day ended with arguments, tears and going home early. The Gospel message mixed with many spiritual gifts created a very good environment for believers in Corinth until their selfishness and perversion threatened to break up the believers and even drive some from faith. Paul wrote to the Corinthians calling them to repentance and pointing them back to the Triune God whose grace, love and fellowship will be with them always for restoration, encouragement, unity and peace.

For you to teach children this week
Memorial Day weekend sees a lot of pools pop up in backyards. Those little pools are great at first, but quickly they fill with dirt, algae and little creatures making them unusable. Little backyard pools are not like a freshwater spring up in the mountains with cold filtered water that is good for a swim and even to drink. Stagnant faith rather than faith like a spring of living water is no good to the individual, others or God. The tongues of fire that settled on the disciples at Pentecost showed the Holy Spirit had been poured out on them to share the saving name of Jesus. Sitting stagnant with the truth was not an option for the disciples. The Holy Spirit had given the disciples the gift of faith and so they were equipped to share Jesus in different ways according to their different God-given gifts.
