My friends will not stop talking about the new waterpark. It was said that the new waterpark is much more than a splash pad or community pool or waterslide. Rumors from the other kids hyped up what waited inside the waterpark. It did not matter how long the wait was to go, the hope and eager expectation of the fun, adventure and break from the heat and daily grind remained. As kids the hope and eager expectation of a new waterpark seems to outlast any setback. As Christians, the glory of heaven is the relief from suffering and endless joy we groan for in this broken world. Keeping up hope for the day we walk the golden streets of heaven is not as easy as being excited for a waterpark since the streets we walk here on earth trip us up with potholes, puddles and puncture wounds from broken friendships, divorce, cancer, debt, natural disaster, hearing loss, blindness, disease, job loss, war, death, etc. Jesus was born into the frustrated creation and suffering and lived among sinners to be rejected and face excruciating suffering and death on the cross for our deliverance from groaning through each day. His resurrection guarantees glory waits for us who hope in him. We have the testimony of Scripture and the Holy Spirit living in us to keep us pushing back against suffering with hope that will see the glories of heaven and live there in joyful peace forever.
