On June 11th the US Bishops consecrated our country to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The relics of our Sister St. Margaret Mary Alacoque were present for this historic consecration. We united with them by the celebration of the Mass that day, following the same readings and prayers that the Bishops used. We are hoping that we will receive a visit from our Sister's relics before she returns to Paray le Monial, France.

We are in the midst of our novena in preparation for the Consecration of the USA to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. We recently learned that the largest reliquary of our dear Sister, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque is now in the USA for the Consecration by all of our country's Bishops. We are hoping her relics will come up to Rockville for a visit!
Tomorrow, we will have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament after Mass until the conclusion of Evening Prayer all are welcome. We will continue our thanksgiving for our Anniversary of the foundation of our Holy Order in Annecy, France on June 6, 1610.

As we celebrate Pentecost we thank the Holy Spirit for giving us a new Mother Superior, Mother Susan Marie Kasprzak. She was Superior for many years at our Monastery in Brooklyn. Please keep her in your prayers as she begins her triennial here at Monte Maria. Msgr. William Carr celebrated his 57th Ordination Anniversary here today and next Sunday our Sr. Marie Helene will celebrate her Silver Jubilee. His Excellency, Bishop Barry Knestout will be the main celebrant.

Happy "delayed flight" Sunday! We were blessed to have Fr. Matt Kiehl celebrate Mass for us today. He was able to tell us about the ordination ceremony of our new transitional Deacon Brennen McCoy. We were delighted to hear that he will be in the same parish this summer as our good friend, Fr. Matt Kelly, in Harrisonburg! Hopefully we will get a chance to meet him.

It was a special blessing to have the celebration of the Golden Jubilees of Frs. Christian Haydinger and Michael Duffy on the actual day of their ordination May 8th. We were delighted that our Pastor Fr. James Gordon, who will be celebrating his 45th in November, was also able to con-celebrate. A large group from St. Ann's came to celebrate with us at 7:30AM to surprise of the Jubilarians who were expecting a small gathering. Hunter Reardon from the Catholic Virginian was also there taking photos and shared this beautiful one with us. It shows Fr. Duffy holding the chalice that belonged to Msgr. Roy Cosby of happy memory who also was ordained on May 8th as well as sharing the same birthday with Fr. Duffy (a different year!)

We were delighted to welcome back today, after several months, our "Sunday priest," Msgr. William Carr. This photo was taken at his Golden Jubilee celebration at St. Bridget's Church. As he mentioned in his homily there are four ages of a man "youth, middle age, you look good, and o dear..."
On this Friday (May 8th) we will have the joy of having Fathers Christian Haydinger and Michael Duffy con-celebrate their Golden Jubilee at 7:30AM. Please join us in prayers of thanksgiving for their 100 years combined service to our Diocese!

A friend of ours sent this photo taken recently at the March for Life in Richmond. We were united with them in prayer and delighted with this photo of our two Virginia Bishops.

We are very grateful to God that Fr. Danny Cogut was able to celebrate Mass here this morning. He gave us a beautiful homily about nourishing our lives especially in difficult times with Scripture and the Eucharist. We will miss him as he goes to CU to finish his degree in canon law. We hope our friend Fr. Richard Mullins will take good care of him, since he is pastor at St. Thomas the Apostle. Our prayers will go with Fr. Danny.
Tomorrow our Mass will be at 2:30PM for the funeral of our good friend Joseph Roberts celebrated by Fr. Joseph Koury.

On this Feast of Divine Mercy we again had the joy of Fr. James M. Glass celebrating Mass here like he did last year on this feast day. He spoke about "doubting Thomas" who has done much to strengthen our faith with his beautiful act of faith,"My Lord and My God" that we say when looking at Jesus hidden in the Blessed Sacrament.
