St. Mark's United Methodist Church

St. Mark's United Methodist Church St. Mark's United Methodist Church is located at 200 Hempstead Ave, Rockville Centre, NY 11570.

Mark’s United Methodist Church is a congregation of Christians maturing spiritually. As a growing multicultural church family, we invite and welcome all who are searching for a spiritual home. Our mission is both local and global, based on the melding of scripture, reason, tradition, and experience. We seek to serve Rockville Centre and neighboring communities through:
◾Welcoming all visitors and

newcomers to join us for Sunday morning services, followed by our fellowship hour;
◾Ministering to people in need (spiritual, economic, emotional);
◾Reaching out to our neighbors in ecumenical and interfaith fellowship;
◾Identifying and meeting the changing needs of the community;
◾Being a voice for social justice in our neighborhood, nation and world. Each of these efforts can only be effective when carried out in humble awareness of God’s universal grace and in joyful acceptance of the Good News of Christ.

Dear St. Mark's family,

Grace and peace to you from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

This Sunday, our children will perform a walk-through holy week. We are blessed to have support from their parents and Joan Schad, who tirelessly devotes herself to children's ministry.

Then, on Easter Sunday, April 9, at 10 a.m., we will celebrate with holy communion the joyous and triumphant resurrection of Jesus, who delivered us from darkness to light. Because this service is the richest and most glorious occasion for worship in the entire year, I invite you, your family, and your friends to honor and praise God's mercy and His Son Jesus' resurrection.

Special offering envelopes for Easter will be available. Let us express our gratitude to God, who sent us Jesus and raised Him for our sake. Your generous support of our ministry is very appreciated.

Faithfully yours,
Pastor Gunshik

Another reminder, United Methodist Women (UMW) will hold their bake sale after Palm Sunday service. Please donate and purchase some baked goods!

Good Afternoon St. Mark’s Congregation,

Our church wants to help Ukraine in any way we can. We were just made aware of an opportunity.
In conjunction with Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church of Lindenhurst, St. Mark’s will be collecting supplies that are needed. These supplies must be brought to St. Mark’s no later than Sunday March 13 after our worship service.
For your convenience, a plastic bin will be set up on the front porch of the parsonage, so you can deliver any time that works best for you. Janet Vaughan will drive all supplies that we collect out to Lindenhurst Sunday after church, so that they can be shipped out on Monday.
Supplies needed:
Men’s gloves, hats, socks, under ware, blankets, Bain Aids, antiseptic/Neosporin, tooth paste/tooth brush, bar soap, wash cloths, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, toe/hand warmers.

Thank you in advance for the help!

Friends,

We have late guidance from the Bishop that makes cancelling the in person option for this evening's service prudent. Along with other requirements, no singing (including solo's, etc.) presents a particular challenge for this hymn based service.

We are going to have a Zoom Only virtual/remote service. Christine will be playing and singing from her home. We hope to have many of the service components in place for the remote service - this is a work in progress.

If you are able, please have a candle and lighter (or LED cande) at the ready, and be in a room/environment where you can dim your lights - we will have a virtual candle lighting and sing Silent Night. Note that your computer or phone screen may provide all the light you need to provide "dim" lighting, and please be careful with any lit candles!

The nature of Zoom audio does not allow us to collectively sing (in a meaningful musical way), so during the service most microphones will be muted. I encourage you to sing along with Christine.

If you are a reader, please "raise your hand" in Zoom so you can easily be found in the Zoom participant list.

This coming Sunday's service will also be Zoom only - a separate email with the bullentin will be circulated in the near future.

Please find the bulletin for the Christmas Eve (Friday, December 24th) Service attached.

The Christmas Eve service link and phone number (for landline/voice only) are found below.

Please wrap up any pre-service conversations before the scheduled start time. We have been starting a minute or three after to allow people to connect over Zoom and get seated in the sanctuary (adhering to various protocol, etc.). We should be fairly practiced at this now, so will be starting the service closer to or at the announced time.

Be Safe, Be Well

Nate
