“And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭7‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Do not weep.” The Lord is compassionate!

The Lord saw her, He noticed her suffering and He had compassion on her. The amazing take away from this portion of scripture is that He did not only see her present suffering, He saw into her future!

The Lord had compassion on a widow whose only son had died. No doubt the son represented her safety, her income and her future lineage since she was a widow and had no other male support. In those days, widows were very vulnerable and subordinate to their male relatives. They had no way of earning money and depended solely on the generous support and protection of others. The death of her only son was such a compounded loss for this mother. But Jesus looked beyond the present and into her future and He raised the boy back to life! How amazing is that!

Friends, aren’t you just so grateful that God looks beyond our present circumstances and knows the future? He performs miracles that impact not only our present needs but our future as well! He is a God that looks compassionately upon His children and He delivers us safely through! God is faithful!

“When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.””
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

A call to consecration!

What draws us to our knees? What causes us come and kneel at the altars of our God? Is it need? Or suffering, or pain? Or is it for the love of and joy of being in His presence? I would like to be noble and say that it’s always for love and joy, but to be honest, it’s not! I often come into my morning prayer heavily burdened with need. I sometimes bombard heaven with requests, after I’ve ceremoniously praised Him! And there are times when it’s just pure obedience and fulfilling my responsibility! Whatever draws us into our prayer closet, whether it be need or love, just know that Jesus is always willing, ready and waiting to meet you there!

Many of us are in a seasonal time of consecration - The 21 Day Fast! This is a time of prayer, fasting, reading the Word, and denying our fleshly desires as we seek the Lord. This season of sacrifice has a mixed following; some folks anticipate the fast with joy, while others face it out of pure obedience. But let me just submit to you that our attitude about our consecration will determine the altitude of our blessing!
Isaiah 58 teaches us that there is a more desirable way to approach fasting and consecrating ourselves unto the Lord, it’s called ‘delighting ourselves in the Lord.’ When we delight ourselves in the Lord, that’s the point of blessing! That’s the place where God causes us to ride on the high hills of the earth!

Friends, when He calls us into His presence, and we come from a place in our hearts that yearns for Him so much that we deny ourselves …that’s the point of blessing! I don’t know about you, but I want my heart to hear Him calling my name! I desire to be at a place where He knows that it’s my delight to be in His presence! That’s the place where things turn around! “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms‬ ‭37‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

““If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord; And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken.””
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭58‬:‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

January 2
Morning | DAILY LIGHT
Sing to the Lord a new song.

Sing aloud to God our strength; make a joyful shout to the God of Jacob. Raise a song and strike the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the lute. § He has put a new song in my mouth—praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord.

Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. § The joy of the Lord is your strength. Paul … thanked God and took courage.

Knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
