When the sun danced, Heaven called for peace

On October 13, 1917, the sun seemed to dance over Fatima as Our Lady called the world to prayer for peace and the conversion of Russia.

Today, as the skies over Ukraine still carry the smoke of war, we remember that miracle of light. The same Mother who once turned the eyes of the world toward Heaven still calls us to pray the Rosary for peace, repentance, and mercy.

May our prayer today be a spark of that same light, asking that hearts turn from violence to grace, and that Ukraine may see the dawn of peace.

Our Lady of Fatima, pray for Ukraine and for peace in the world.

Today we celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day.
For nearly a thousand years our people have turned to the Pokrova, the Mother of God spreading her protecting veil, as a sign of hope and strength. From Knyaz Yaroslav placing our land under her protection in 1037 to today’s war-torn cities, she has remained our intercessor and comforter.

On this day of freedom we honor not only the courage of Ukraine’s defenders but also the unfailing protection of the Theotokos who covers her people in every trial.
