What Kind of Garden Will We Grow?

This Sunday, we join in our annual Flower Celebration, the beloved Unitarian tradition begun by Norbert Čapek in 1923. As part of our Flourishing Together theme, we will reflect on gardens, roots, wildflowers, weeds, boundaries, and what it means to create a community where many different people can truly thrive.
What kind of garden are we becoming together? What must we cultivate carefully, and where might we allow for holy surprise? Through poetry, music, and ritual, we will honor both the beauty and the challenge of living in diverse community.

Please bring a flower to share if you are able.

Rooted in Solidarity and Flourishing Together

We will encounter eight stories narrated by our members from our Unitarian, Universalist, and UU histories: stories about how ordinary people showed up, in very different ways and in particular contexts, to side with love and show up for justice.

Holy Curiosity: The Spiritual Practice of Flourishing Together

Congregations are living things — shaped by changing people, changing needs, changing perspectives, and changing times. This Sunday, we will reflect on what it means to flourish together when the ground beneath us shifts, slowly or suddenly. How do we hold difference, disagreement, beauty, and change with compassion and curiosity? How do we remain connected to one another while continuing to grow and evolve together? Join us as we explore the spiritual practice of holy curiosity and the ways love calls us to live together in changing times.

Faith Made Strong: A Centering Worship for Troubled Times
Led by Carney McRae and Reverend Marty

In a time when many feel the weight of uncertainty and division, this Sunday’s service invites us to ground ourselves in what steadies and sustains us. We will gather for reflection, music, and centering as a community, holding one another in care.

Following the service, we will host a conversation in which our Safety and Security Task Force will share more about the work they have been doing. As a congregation, we are navigating important questions about safety, risk, and how we care for one another in changing times. This conversation will be an opportunity for learning and for listening—deeply and respectfully—to one another’s hopes, concerns, and perspectives, as we seek a path forward together.

All are welcome to join in this time of reflection, care, and shared discernment.

A Word to Hold Onto
Rev. Marty Pelham

This Sunday we conclude our theme of Embracing Possibility by exploring what can ground us when the future feels uncertain. We will consider the ancient spiritual practice of living with a guiding word. But rather than claiming a word with our mind, what might it mean to receive a word in our heart—something offered by God, Goddess, Spirit, or the interdependent web of life itself? We will reflect on how support, wisdom, and guidance may come to us in turbulent times, and how we might carry that word into the months ahead.

Embracing Possibility: Listening for the Life That Calls Us

In a world that can pull us toward constant planning—or constant reacting—how do we discern a faithful way forward? We’ll explore the tension between control and openness, between mapping the future and listening for what is already calling us. We’ll consider how we might meet this moment with presence as well as plans.

We Are Here Because of Resurrection: What Grows When Hope Refuses to Die
Led By - Reverend Marty

On Easter Sunday, we’ll explore how the earliest followers of Jesus understood resurrection—not as something to prove, but as something that changed how they loved, resisted oppression, and built community. In a time when humiliation and division can feel all too familiar, how can we embody a hope that refuses to die? Come celebrate the possibility that love and new life can still rise up.
