On Sunday we celebrated Trinity Sunday, remembering that the Trinity isn’t a puzzle but a living relationship of grace, love, and communion — and we’re invited into that life.

In Matthew 28, the disciples meet the risen Jesus and we hear that “some worshiped… but some doubted.” And Jesus sends all of them anyway. We go not because we’re certain, but because Christ is with us always.
Across our scriptures — Matthew, Psalm 8, 2 Corinthians, and Lydia’s story in Acts — we were reminded that God is already at work ahead of us. Our job is simply to pay attention.

Lydia shows us what faithful innovation looks like: one small step (“Let’s go down to the river”) opened the door to God’s future already unfolding.

On this Trinity Sunday, we remembered that the church’s calling is not to be impressive, but to be attentive — to God, to our neighbors, and to the Spirit’s quiet nudges.
The Creator delights in us. The Christ sends us. The Spirit empowers us.

So, beloved: worship even if you doubt, go even if you’re unsure, experiment even if it feels small, and trust the promise: “I am with you always.”

Ascension Sunday May 17, 2026

Yesterday we celebrated the Ascension and remembered that Jesus didn’t leave us—he now reigns and empowers us. We heard how Christ opens our minds, entrusts us with his mission, and clothes us with power from on high—power to heal, forgive, welcome, and grow.

A beautiful moment came when our children gathered around the six month old baby in worship. Their smiles and the baby’s wide-eyed wonder reminded us what new life looks like in the church: tender, hopeful, and something we all help nurture.

We were invited to be witnesses, not spectators—people who embody Christ’s love, let go of old hurts, and make room for new beginnings. The Ascension isn’t the end of Jesus’ story. It’s the beginning of ours.

“Some worshiped… and some doubted.” And Jesus sent all of them anyway.

This Trinity Sunday, we’re exploring how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not a puzzle to solve but a movement to join—a God who goes ahead of us, opens hearts like Lydia’s, and invites us to notice the future already unfolding around us.
If you’ve ever wondered where God is leading next… If you’ve ever felt unsure but willing… If you’re curious about how small steps of faith can open big possibilities…

Join us this Sunday at Rockland Congregational Church as we listen, learn, and step into God’s future together.
“I am with you always.” That’s the promise. Let’s explore this together.

Praying for healing for those of Searsmont and beyond…

Holy One, Source of compassion, Ground of all our being — We gather with hearts that are heavy and tender, holding the people of Searsmont in a circle of love that stretches across traditions, across beliefs, across every way human beings reach for hope.

We remember Andrew Cross, a young firefighter whose courage reflected the highest calling of every faith— to love our neighbor, to protect life, to serve with self-giving compassion. Surround his family with comfort deeper than words. Let the prayers of all peoples of varying religious traditions, and the quiet love of those who claim no religion at all rise together like a single chorus of care.

We pray for the many who were injured— for those in critical condition, for those whose bodies and spirits are in pain. May the healing presence known by many names— Your Spirit, Your Light, Your Peace— rest upon every hospital room. Guide the hands of medical teams. Strengthen the families who keep vigil. Let hope come gently, like dawn after a long night.

We pray for the firefighters and first responders who ran toward danger with courage that transcends creed. Bless them with peace. Steady their hearts. Let them feel the gratitude of a community that sees their sacrifice and honors their grief.

We pray for the workers and families of Robbins Lumber, for a community shaken by loss and uncertainty. Where there is fear, bring reassurance. Where there is sorrow, bring companions who listen with love. Where there is confusion, bring clarity. Let neighbors become healers, and let compassion be the common language we speak to one another.
Holy God and God beyond all naming— When tragedy breaks us open, when the world feels fragile, when we do not know what to pray— You meet us in our shared humanity. You gather us in love that does not ask for labels, only open hearts.

Hold Searsmont in Your mercy. Hold every grieving family. Hold every injured body. Hold every responder who showed up with courage. And hold us, too, that we may be people who choose compassion over indifference, love over fear, and hope over despair.

We offer this prayer in the spirit of unity, in the spirit of love, and in the spirit of all who seek healing and peace. Amen.

Tomorrow we celebrate Ascension Sunday, and the heart of the message is simple and beautiful:

Jesus doesn’t leave us—He empowers us. He clothes us with power from on high: power to forgive, power to heal, power to grow, power to love when love feels impossible.
And tomorrow, we’ll see that power in real time— in the faces of our children, the faces of our families - a reminder that God is always growing new life right in the middle of the church.

We are not spectators. We are witnesses. Come be part of the story God is still writing.

“Clothed With Power From on High” Luke 24:44–53 • Ephesians 1:15–23 Worship at 10am — all are welcome.

Ever hear Jesus say, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments,” and feel a little knot in your stomach?

Next week’s message—“Love Me: A Sermon Rooted in Presence, Not Performance”—takes us back into that moment in John 14 when the disciples were scared, confused, and bracing for loss. And Jesus wasn’t testing them. He was comforting them.

He promises the Spirit. He promises presence. He promises, “I will not leave you orphaned.”

If you need a word of reassurance, a reminder that love comes before obedience, or a community to breathe with, you’re invited.

All are welcome.

Yesterday’s message from John 14:1–14 reminded us that Jesus speaks into our fear, not from above it. On the night before his death, when the disciples were anxious and unsure, Jesus said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.” Not because the road ahead would be easy, but because the destination is God, the way is Jesus himself, and the welcome is love.

We explored how Jesus prepares a place for us — and how, as 1 Peter says, God is also preparing us to be a people who can dwell in that love.

The path is marked. The One who goes ahead also walks beside us. No need for troubled hearts. The journey is covered.

Luke 24:13-35

This Sunday at Rockland Congregational Churches, we’re slowing down long enough to notice something we often miss.
Two disciples walked with Jesus for miles… and never recognized Him. Not until they sat down. Not until the bread was blessed, broken, and shared.

In a world sprinting past the table, what if Christ is waiting for us in the moments we rush through?

Join us for Slow Food, Holy Presence — a reflection on the Emmaus story, the hunger beneath our hurry, and the Companion who meets us whenever we pause long enough to break bread.

Come with your questions. Come with your weariness. Come hungry for companionship.

“An Interview with Doubting Thomas”
April 12, 2026
John 20:19–31 • Rev. Dr. Irven A. Gammon •
Rockland Congregational Church

Today’s message took the form of a playful, heartfelt radiostyle interview on “WRCC—Rockland Congregational Church,” where Pastor Irv sat down with “Doubting” Thomas to explore what really happened in that locked room after Easter—and what it means for anyone who wrestles with faith.

Thomas shared honestly about his doubt. He had trusted Jesus deeply, only to watch everything fall apart at the crucifixion. When the disciples claimed Jesus was alive, Thomas couldn’t risk hoping again. Doubt, for him, was self protection after heartbreak.

But then Jesus walked straight through the locked door—through fear, grief, and disbelief—and invited Thomas to touch His wounds. That encounter changed everything. Thomas declared, “My Lord and my God,” not because he had all the answers, but because Jesus met him where he was.

The heart of the message: Doubt isn’t failure. Doubt is often the doorway where Jesus loves to show up. Locked doors—fear, anxiety, grief, uncertainty—don’t stop the risen Christ. They never have.

We named the “locked rooms” many people live in today: violence in our communities, fear in our schools, families under strain, people feeling overwhelmed or alone. And we prayed that Christ would walk through those doors too, breathing peace, courage, and hope.

Thomas’s closing word to us was simple and powerful: If the risen Christ could find him hiding and hurting, He can find you. Whatever room you’ve locked yourself in, He comes anyway.

Rockland Congregational Church is a place where questions are welcome, where honesty is honored, and where hope is waiting. Come as you are.

Join us next Sunday as we continue the story with the travelers on the road to Emmaus.
