Happy Fathers Day to all fathers!!!
Joshua 24:15
“A Father Who Makes a Positive Difference”
Joshua was nearing the end of his life when he made a powerful declaration: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua understood that a father’s greatest responsibility is not simply providing for his family, but leading them spiritually. It is fathers like Joshua that not only changes lives for the now season, but for generations to come.
Joshua made a difference:
1. By Loving his Family
2. By Leading by Example
3. By Leaving a Legacy
Note: There is a difference between being a good father and being a godly father. A good father is a position but being a godly father is a calling. Joshua’s declaration was more than a slogan, it was a covenant.
Real love is more than words. A father who loves his family creates an atmosphere of security, encouragement, and acceptance. A father’s love is shown through his actions.
The greatest example of sacrificial love is Jesus…..
If a father desire his children to walk in faith, he must walk in faith himself. Children often imitate what they see more than what they hear.
There is a difference in an inheritance and a legacy. An inheritance is what you leave to someone. A house, money, or land. But notice that houses can be sold, money can be spent. Possessions can fade away. But a legacy is what you leave in someone. Joshua left a legacy that still impacts the world today.
The greatest legacy fathers that we leave our families are:
- Faith in God
- Integrity of character
- A heart of prayer
- A testimony of God’s faithfulness
Like Joshua, when fathers declare, “But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
1. Homes become stronger
2. Children become wiser
3. Generations become blessed
Psalm 112:1-2, “Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.”
