Here is the audio from Fr. Grady’s homily from the 11:00am Mass for the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time - “Love is the fulfillment of the law.” In our readings this Sunday, we are reminded of the importance of loving our neighbor as ourselves. In Jesus giving us the two great Commandments, in no way was He replacing or removing the 10 Commandments. Rather, He was “raising the bar” so to speak and calling us to a higher way of living - living in His love, and living and loving as He loves us. One area of love we can work on is in regards to gossip - a sin that involves a lack of love but also a violation of the 5th Commandment (“You shall not kill”) in which we often “kill” the reputation and good name of our neighbor.

Here is the audio from Fr. Grady’s homily from the 9:30am Mass for the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time - “… that you may discern what is the will of God …” In our readings this Sunday, in particular from St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans as well as from the Gospel of St. Matthew, we are encouraged to discern the Holy Will of God and to think not as men do, but as God does. The life of daily prayer and participation in the Sacraments connects us to the Lord as well as a daily immersing ourselves in Sacred Scripture. As St. Jerome reminds us, “ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.” Prayer connects us to the mind and heart of God, and is necessary for the life of the soul.

Here is the audio from Fr. Grady’s homily from the 9:30am Mass for the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time - “But blessed are your eyes …” In St. Matthew’s Gospel, Our Lord gives to us the parable of the sowing of the seed. He then proclaims to His Apostles, “But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” How blessed we are to be Catholic! And the Saints inspire us and demonstrate lives that bear fruits 100 fold. We look at the witness of St. Anna Wang, one of the martyrs of China, who bore much fruit and continues so in Heaven. May we too bear much fruit for Our Lord.

Grady’s homily from the 9:30am Mass for the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time - “Ubi Petrus, ibi Ecclesia.” “Ubi Petrus, ibi Ecclesia” is a famous Latin phrase meaning “Where Peter is, there is the Church.” The phrase comes from St. Ambrose in the 4th century, it highlights the Catholic belief that unity with the Bishop of Rome (the Pope) is essential for belonging to the true, universal Church. We talk about excommunication and the importance of being one with the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church, and the authority she exercises that comes from Christ Himself.
