We have twenty-four hours in a day.
People make time for hanging out with family and friends.
People make time for their hobbies.
People make time for staring at their television and phone screens for hours at a time.
People make time for sleeping.
People make time for, honestly, whatever in their heart they want to make time for.
Yet, here we are, Christians, and He may get at the most an hour of prayer. And some of you are convicted even now because He may not get any of your day somedays.
To great shame, the church has glorified everything else but the actually communicating with God and deliberately meditating on His Word.
And we wonder why the house of God is out of order.
I write this to no one but myself at this time:
Go pray - again. And before you end your day pray some more. Dedicate days to prayer. For Christ did. Your Father in heaven delights in the company of His children. There is no excuse as to why we do not bask in His presence more often and seek Him on everything pertaining to this life He has given us.
Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Good days or worse days, pray.
God would not have said so in His Word if He did not mean it with significance and did not want to share Himself even more so with those who dare to seek and hear Him.
Pray.
If we do not pray, it is not because we do not have time - it is because we do not want to. Otherwise, love would draw us there. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. That is a the heartbreaking truth that no one will be able to run from the day we stand before the omniscient eyes of the Lord.
It is an honor to have access to the King.
May we pray like it - not in begrudging duty, but instead with joyful understanding that even now not all have such the opportunity. But by the grace of God, we do.
