***Values (Who we are)***
***Prayer
Everything we do begins with Prayer. We recognize we can do nothing apart from Christ, and prayer is our connection to the true vine. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
***Authority of Scripture
We demonstrate our love for God by submitting to His word in our preaching, teaching, ministries, meetings, st
udies, and homes. Psalm 119:11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
***Hospitality
We demonstrate our love for others through Hospitality. Everyone is welcome to worship with us at Carmel, for we are all sinners, and we pray that all are transformed into the likeness of Christ through the work of the Spirit.
1 John 4:19 We love because he first loved us.
***Unity
We strive to be a unified Body of Christ because we are one in Christ Jesus. When the world looks at us, we pray they see a glimpse of Christ’s Kingdom and long to be a part of it. Matt. 5:16 Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
***Educating and Discipling Children and youth
We know that our children and youth are the future leaders of the church and ambassadors for Christ in our fallen and broken world. We instruct and disciple our children in Scripture centered curriculum and teaching, trusted relationships with adults, service opportunities, and ***Christ centered worship. Matt. 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
***Family
We value our families through encouragement and support of marriages and parenting because we believe that furthering Christ’s kingdom begins in the home. Deut. 6:4-9 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
***Multigenerational Fellowship
Carmel as a rich history of fellowship that spans the generations. Events such as the Legacy Supper, fundraisers, and the Sunday School picnic provide opportunities to share wisdom, fun, and joy with one another. Psalm 145:4 “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.”
***Multi-community Worship
One of the ways Carmel is unique is the gathering of people from several communities in our area to worship together as one body furthering Christ’s kingdom. Phil. 2:9-11 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
