THROWBACK THURSDAY 🎥 | BABER’S STORY, OUR HISTORY

Every church has a story, and some of its richest chapters are told by those who lived them!

At our 70th Church Anniversary, Brother and Sister Thomas shared childhood memories, reflections on Old Baber, and the move to our current sanctuary at 550 Meigs Street in an interview with Trudy Hutcherson of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

If the doors of the church are open, there’s a good chance Brother Thomas Davis is there. And if he's there, you will probably find him with a camera in his hand!

Brother Davis makes sure the life of our church is seen, heard, and remembered. A faithful servant of the AME Church, he has served at the local, conference, and Episcopal District levels including as the first President of the Western New York Annual Conference Lay Organization and former First Episcopal District Director of Lay Activities.

But perhaps what says the most about Brother Davis is simply this: he shows up. Late nights, early mornings, worship services, conferences, celebrations—he is there, working behind the scenes and capturing the moments that become our memories.

This is one of the people who makes Baber. Today, we celebrate Brother Thomas Davis.

Most Sundays after worship, the Baber Food Share, led by Bro. Reuben and Sis. Ronke Tapp, makes fresh produce and other goods available to all in need.

Take what you need. Share what you can. No judgment. Just community.
