The mission of Faith Baptist Church is rooted in three commands given by God to the Church. They are: 1) Love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37-40); 2) Teach and train God's people so that they can do the work of the ministry - in order to strengthen the Church and help it grow in Christ-likeness (Ephesians 4:11-13); and 3) The work of the mi

nistry is to: a) encourage people to be followers of Jesus, b) baptize them, and c) teach them to observe God's commandments (Matthew 28:19-20).

In 1 John 3, we're challenged to examine whether our love is merely something we say or something we demonstrate. When fellow believers are in need, love responds with compassion, generosity, and action.

After all, if Christ loved us enough to lay down His life for us, how can we withhold love from those who belong to the same family of faith?

If the Gospel isn't a license to love sin, then what is the Gospel?

The Gospel is the good news that sinners can be forgiven and reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ. We don't come to God with our own righteousness, good works, or religious achievements. We come empty-handed, trusting completely in Christ's death and resurrection to save us.

Salvation is God's gift of grace to those who place their faith in His Son. That's the Gospel.

The Gospel is not a free pass to keep loving the very sin Christ came to save us from.

When Jesus rescues someone, He doesn't just change their destination, He changes their heart. Christians still struggle with sin, but they can't be comfortable making peace with it. Saving faith doesn't produce perfection, but it does produce a new desire to follow Christ rather than live for sin.
