The early church wasn’t led by professionals with all the answers. It was ordinary, messy people opening their doors to other messy people. They carried each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:2) and changed the world. Getting help isn’t weakness—it’s wisdom. And sometimes the best healing happens in community, not isolation.

This week, ask yourself: Do I know someone struggling? Am I struggling? You’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.

We all face seasons where darkness feels like our closest friend. Whether you’re 15 or 65, mental health struggles don’t discriminate—and they don’t disqualify you from God’s love.

The heroes of faith struggled too. Elijah wanted to give up. David wrote about despair. Heman, a worship leader, cried out, “Why have you forgotten me?” Yet God promises in Isaiah 26:3: “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you.”

Peace isn’t about perfect circumstances—it’s about where we place our weight—who and what we trust. Getting help isn’t weakness; it’s wisdom. God doesn’t want you to wait for heaven to experience His peace. He offers it today, right in the middle of your storm.

Catch up on Part 1 of our new series, “Peace of Mind,” and join us as we explore how to find peace and help others discover it too. You’re not alone in this journey.

What does love require of you today?

Jesus confronted religious leaders who were obsessed with external traditions like handwashing ceremonies while neglecting God’s actual commands. They found loopholes to avoid caring for their aging parents, using religious devotion as an excuse for greed. Jesus called them out: “You hypocrites!”

The truth is simple yet challenging. Jesus gave us ONE command that fulfills all others: “Love one another” (John 13:34). Not a list of rules. Not traditions that make us look good. Just love.

Paul reminds us in Romans 13:8-10 that love does no harm to our neighbor. It’s the fulfillment of the law. This isn’t weakness—it’s the radical way of Jesus that changes everything. In our parenting, our workplaces, our politics, our neighborhoods: What does love require of me?

We won’t get it right every time, but imagine how different our world would look if followers of Jesus started with this one question in every situation.

Jesus cuts through all the excuses with one radical command: “Love one another.” No loopholes. No gray areas. No lists that apply to everyone else but us. Paul reinforces this in Romans 13, reminding us that every commandment is summed up in one: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

The question that changes everything: What does love require of me?

Jesus called His followers "salt and light" – not just Christians going through the motions. Salt preserves. Light shows the way. He looked at ordinary people with nothing and said, "Your presence makes a difference." When we live with purity, mercy, and peace (Matthew 5), we literally preserve this world from rotting away. When we shine light through our good deeds, people notice and want to know why.

You're exactly where you need to be. The question is: will you live like it matters? Will you be salt that preserves and light that shows others a different way?

What if you’re not just randomly placed where you are right now? What if there’s something strategic about your workplace, your neighborhood, your school, that difficult relationship?

In Matthew 5, Jesus looked at ordinary people with nothing and said something radical: “You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.” Not random words - a powerful identity. Salt preserves life. Light shows the way. You’re not where you are by accident. Your workplace, your neighborhood, your school - you’re strategically placed there for a reason.

The world doesn’t need more labels. It needs people who live so differently - so pure, merciful, and peace-making - that others can’t help but ask “why?” That’s when your light shines brightest. Not by being loud, but by living a life that makes people curious about the God you serve.

You are exactly where you need to be. You are salt. You are light. The question is: will you live like it matters? We hope you can join us this Sunday for the final message in our series “How To Be A Christian”.

You might like Jesus, but what about His followers? It’s a fair question. Many people are drawn to Jesus but hesitate when it comes to “Christians” because of our reputation for being judgmental, exclusive, or critical.

Here’s the truth Jesus taught: He never called anyone to be a “Christian.” He called us to be disciples. And the defining mark? Love. Not knowledge, not church attendance, not perfection—just love.

The Apostle John, after witnessing crucifixions, persecution, and the loss of fellow disciples, still wrote: “God IS love” (1 John 4:8). Our love for God is authenticated by our love for others—not by how loud we are or how much we know, but by how we treat people. Every person you meet is deeply loved by God. Every single one.

What if we actually lived this way? What if love wasn’t just a nice idea but our defining characteristic? What if our workplaces, neighborhoods, and communities were filled with Christians who loved like Jesus?
