On August 31, we delivered a collection of donated items to the Brighton School District to help local students get ready for the new school year. Our donations included new socks and underwear, three new backpacks, a new sweatshirt, sweaters, and other new clothing. Thank you to everyone who helped make this donation possible! 🙏🏻

The Brighton School District continues to collect new school and clothing items for Brighton students in grades K–12, including socks, jeans, sweatshirts, underwear, and backpacks. These items are made available to students through a store located in the District Administration Building on Monroe Avenue.

If you would like to help, please place your donated items in the large collection box by the Parlor side door. We will make sure your donations are delivered to the District.

Thank you for helping make sure Brighton children have what they need to start the school year with confidence! 💞

🌸 Our Community Garden Is Looking Wonderful! 🌱

In this week’s blog, Jeff shares some photos of the garden, talks about his zinnias, cosmos, celosia, and the unfortunate fate of his dahlias, and gives a special shout-out to Emily H. for all the love and care she puts into bringing the garden, and our community, together.

And because Jeff will be away this Sunday, he’s even left a little bit of the garden behind for the congregation: a bouquet of flowers from the garden to brighten the sanctuary.

A young adult group from Northridge Church has sponsored an additional garden bed for our community garden. 🌿

They will be volunteering on Saturday, September 5th, to install the bed and fill it with soil. They're excited for the opportunity to connect with our community! 💖

On Sunday, August 23th, we were blessed to celebrate the gift of creation by blessing our animals. 🐈🐕

Members brought their beloved pets to church for blessing by Pastor Jeff. He individually blessed the one cat and three dogs who accepted the blessing gracefully.

This was the second year Pastor Jeff had recognized that our pets are a true blessing in our lives. The cat is 18 years old, while the dogs are growing older as we age together. Bill B. took photos of this special event. See photos below.

On August 16th, we had a visiting preacher join us in worship, Brandi Wooten from the First Presbyterian Church of Chili. Brandi joined us via a sermon she had recorded and sent to us, while Jeff joined worship in Chili via his own recorded sermon. We are grateful for the chance to share in worship with our siblings in the Presbytery! 💞
