I really wanted to write a happy Purim post this morning, thanking the phenomenal volunteers who performed in our Wicked Purim spiel last night. They were all great and I am very grateful!

However, I need to add an additional note. Since the war began the other day, I've been in regular touch with friends and colleagues in Israel. I am especially proud to partner with and support the Israeli Reform movement. The team at the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism is simply extraordinary.

When I asked what they needed right now, there were a couple of things that stood out.

The Bayit B’Kehilla homes for young adults with disabilities are operating around the clock, with additional counselors and activities being added to maintain stability and safety.

The Mechina Telem campus does not have adequate protected space. If attacks continue, we will need to relocate the students to a safer alternative. At the same time, our Director has lost her home and is currently displaced herself.

There are other elements to the urgent needs. I would be honored if you would join me, to the best of your ability, in making donations. You can use this link: https://ajjhblpn.donorsupport.co/page/FUNESPEULJA
I pray for safety and peace for all the innocent population traped in this maelstrom.

The situation in our region has escalated sharply. We know you are watching the news closely, and so are we. In moments like these, what matters most is the safety of our communities and the strength with which we hold one another. Help us act immediately! Tax-deductible for US residents ONLY. The t...

Celebrate Purim at TBK! We’re swapping the palace of Shushan for the Land of Oz. It’s going to be “Popular,” so grab your broomsticks (or your wands) and get ready for a thrillifying evening of magic, masks, and mitzvot.

Join our team!

We are looking for 1 or 2 outstanding b'nai mitzvah tutors to help with either year one (prayer) or year two (Torah and Haftarah) or both!

We are looking for tutors who are passionate about working with students and their families and who have strong Hebrew, chanting, and teaching skills.

Ideally we will find tutors who live in Rochester and are available for in person sessions, but we are open to tutors who would work long distance over zoom.

You will find great colleagues, competitive pay, and a very special temple family that cares deeply about tradition and innovation in life cycle and all aspects of Jewish life.

Please help me spread the word, either by passing this message along or by sharing names of potential candidates with me.
You can contact me here, by email at [email protected], or by phone at Temple B'rith Kodesh at 585-244-7060.

The 2026 Religious School Tu B’Shevat annual auction and fundraiser was a huge success! Our Shinshinim, Programming Teens, and 7th and 8th grade students planned and ran a morning full of Tu B’Shevat and Israel themed activities and games, culminating in bagels and play time! Everyone had an amazing time playing and learning together! At the same time, I am thrilled to share that the auction raised over $16,000!!! We surpassed both our sponsorship AND auction goals! I want to specifically thank our sponsors Heidi & Mike Fishman, Carol & Stuart Hantman, Fred & Gale Rosen, Helene Weinstein & Maurice Kamins, Greenebaum Saiger & Kasdin PC, Dermatology Associates of Rochester PC, The William and Mildred Levine Foundation and all of our other supporters - the people who donated items to the auction, collected items for the auction, and all those who bid on and won items in the auction!!! Thank you so much. The money raised allows us to continue with a tuition-free Religious School and enables us to continue offering the amazing programs and opportunities we have for our students and families.
