Downtown United Presbyterian Church

Downtown United Presbyterian Church We live into Jesus' inclusive call --
To love every person, to care for creation,
and work for God's justice.

We are PASSIONATE

• We gather for soul stirring, thought-provoking worship
• We delight in our children and youth with creative learning and worship
• We see spiritual life as an open-ended adventure and expressed in our
worship music

We are PROGRESSIVE

• Together we work to protect our city's children from poverty, violence,
hunger and homelessness
• We support Building Mi

nds in South Sudan & Teen Empowerment
• Celebrate human diversity in race, ethnicity, ability, age, sexual
orientation, and gender identity;
• Practice our faith in ways that honor peace, equality, and well-being for
the earth and all its peoples

We are PERSONAL
• As spiritual seekers, we want to be a community where people are free
to become their truest selves. We welcome the presence, voices,
questions, stories, and wisdom of everyone and use inclusive worship language.

The sermon with Pastor Kristina Hansen today was "The Benefit of Doubt." Thomas needs to see to believe. We are told it's ok to doubt, but don't live there. Live into the Easter moment. Christ has compassion for us doubters.

Prayer for Transformation and New Life on Easter Sunday:
God of all ages and of all people, you know our grief and sorrow, our loss and tears, our fear and failure. In your presence we find our comfort.
The shadows and gloom of Good Friday have been dispersed
by the light and color of Easter Sunday. Help us on this day, O God, to burst out of the tombs that have entrapped us:
tombs of selfishness, of greed, of pride and of prejudice.
Let a new life of divine grace and human love burst forth from each of us, through the power of the Risen Christ, in whose name we pray.

NO KINGS DAY RALLY SATURDAY MARCH 28 --
Even if you're not signed up just come! We'll meet in the church parking lot at 12:30 and walk to the bus just down the street.
Historian Timothy Snyder says: NO KINGS, FREEDOM!
Saturday, March 28th, I will join millions of Americans taking part in No Kings protests throughout the country. I hope you will join in. Everything is at stake.

Gather on March 28th.
