Memory Verses for July 2026

July 4, 2026 is the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marking the beginning of the United States of America. This 250th anniversary is a celebration of the freedoms that we, as Americans, have in this country. The greatest freedom that anyone can have is the freedom from the penalty of sin. The Bible tells us “that all have sinned” and that is the truth. Thankfully, Jesus Christ paid the price that we owe for our sin when He willingly went to the cross and shed His blood for you. That is the gift of God for you. You can not earn salvation. Like any other gift, for it to become “yours”, you need to accept the gift that Jesus provided for you, and true acceptance of that gift includes belief that Jesus did die for you. When you believe and accept that salvation that Jesus offers you, you are given eternal life in Heaven. You become a child of God. Our first memory verse for July of 2026 tells us of that “glorious liberty” that is freely given to all who believe.

Romans 8:21 - Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bo***ge of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Our 2nd memory verse restates that the source of that liberty, that freedom, is Jesus Christ.

John 8:36 - If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Memory Verses for June 2026

The theme for our memory verses for 2026 is “Joyful Living For Christ”. Our first memory verse for June of 2026 reminds us that God has made each day in which we live and, from 1 Corinthians 10:13, which is not a memory verse for June, we learn “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” No matter what happens on any day, if that happening is unpleasant or tempting, God has given us what we need to “be able to bear it.” With that in mind, we should be able to “rejoice” in Christ each and every day.

Psalm 118:24 - This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Our second memory verse gives us what should be a wonderful joy in the life of any parent, or anyone who has led anyone to salvation through Jesus Christ, which would make them a “spiritual” parent.

3 John 1:4 - I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Memory Verses for May 2026

One of the important commands to us in the New Testament is the Great Commission. We are to preach the Gospel. Our first memory verse for May of 2026 is

2 Timothy 4:2 - Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

Although Paul is writing this to Timothy, a young preacher, I believe this “command” is for all of us. Our conversations with people, especially those that have yet to come to faith in Christ as their Savior, should be centered in and around “the word”. We need to “be ready” (be “instant”) at all times to give the Word of God to those who need it, which is everyone. If you have been following our memory verses for 2026, you might be wondering, how does this fit into our theme for this year, “Joyous Living for Christ”? Let’s see if our second memory verse for May clears this issue up.

Psalm 112:1 - Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

I think “delight” and “joy” are pretty similar. If you want to show “Joyous Living for Christ”, “delight greatly in his commandments.” One of those commands is to “Preach the Word”! Let’s be busy preaching the Word of God!
