Read Matthew 6:25 & 34. Each day is full of reasons to worry. Bills to pay, relationships that aren’t where we wish they were, health concerns, friends, family, and children making poor life choices, the state of the world, the list is seemingly endless. Yet, when faced with worry, Jesus invites us to trust, instead. Not to trust that our circumstances will immediately change or that everything will work out the way we want it to, but to trust that despite the circumstances we face, God is present, good, and is working everything together for our ultimate benefit. Instead of sinking in our worry, we are invited to seek his kingdom first, turning to him for peace and wisdom. Whatever you’re worried about today, take it to the Lord in prayer. His grace is sufficient, his love sustaining. He is with you, and he cares. Choose trust, today. Read Matthew 6:25 & 34 once more.

Let’s Pray:
Lord, help me not be consumed with worry, today. When I’m presented with an opportunity to worry, help me choose to trust instead. Help me seek first your kingdom, as you provide for my needs. Give me peace for the things beyond my control, and wisdom for how to handle them. Help me turn to you in prayer in times of worry. No matter what I face, let me anchor my soul in relationship with you. Thank you for never leaving me or giving up on me, and for working all things together for my good. In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.

Read 1 John 1:9. Here, God is described as faithful and just. Someone who is faithful can be counted on to come through and relied upon to keep their word. We like that God is faithful. We like that God is just, too, as long as his justice isn’t pointed in our direction. Often, we want God to deal with the wrongdoing of others, while conveniently overlooking our own. This verse, though, tells us that God will forgive our sins if we can confess them. Even though God is just and our wrongdoing deserves to be dealt with, he is faithful to grant us forgiveness we do not deserve. IF we confess, owning up to our sin, and repent, turning from them and to God instead, he will forgive us. God’s faithfulness to forgive can be counted on. Even better, not only does God forgive us, he cleanses us from all unrighteousness, removing from us that which is not of him, which is destructive, and corrosive to the God image within us. This is good news! Confess your sin to the Lord today, he is faithful and just. Read 1 John 1:9 once more.

Let’s Pray:
Lord, thank you for your forgiveness. Thank you for granting me mercy that I don’t deserve. Help me not to point the finger at the wrongdoing of others while overlooking my own. Give me the wisdom to recognize that in me which is not of you, and give me the strength to repent, turning away from it and toward you instead. Thank you for granting me that which I did not earn, and for cleansing me. Make me new, today. Draw me into deeper relationship with you. In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.

Read John 15:1-2. Jesus is the true vine, our source of abundant life, peace, and connection to God. Are you abiding in Jesus, today? If so, you will produce good fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. If these things aren’t present in your character and aren’t showing up more in more in your life and relationships, examine your heart and your level of surrender to Jesus as Lord. For Jesus lets us know here in John 15, that if we bear no fruit, claiming to be one of his followers but experiencing and showing no real life change, we are a branch that will be removed. This is not a reality we want to experience, a life separated from God, or, claiming him as our savior yet failing to experience the abundant life that comes from real relationship with him. In addition, even if we are producing fruit, our Heavenly Father “prunes” us, shaping, changing, and growing us through the power of the Holy Spirit, so we can produce more fruit, living fully and becoming the people we were created to be. Are you producing good fruit? Are you allowing God to change and grow you? Are you abiding in Christ, today? Read John 15:1-2 once more.

Let’s Pray:
Lord, help me abide in you today. Empower me to produce good fruit that flows out of a real and growing relationship with you. Help me examine my heart, surrendering my life fully to you. Let me not stand in the way of you growing and shaping me, but instead help me become the person you created me to be. Help me live my faith authentically, today, experiencing the abundant life you have for me in full. In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.

Read Psalm 42:11. We all have times in life in which we find ourselves low; Low energy, low morale, low self-image, maybe even low on hope. These times may be brought on by family strife, the busyness of life, the stress of carrying a heavy load, our unhealthy life choices, our own self-doubt, addictions, health problems, or circumstances beyond our control. It’s in these dark nights of the soul, though, that worship is essential, not just to our Sunday morning routine, but to our everyday walking around life. Worship, our posture toward God, our remembering to turn back to him and give praise, keeps our problems in proper perspective against the backdrop of eternity. It reminds of us of who, ultimately, is in control. It reminds us of all the ways, despite our hardships, that we are blessed and provided for. Even more, it puts us in the presence of an almighty and loving God, the source of our hope, salvation, and life. If you find yourself low today, spend time in the presence of God. Make praise a priority. After all, you’re loved by and invited into the presence of the one who spoke stars into existence, made you in his image, calmed the storm, and rose from the dead. And, he is good. Read Psalm 42:11 once more.

Let’s Pray:
Lord, when my spirits are low, help me remember you are present. Help me turn to you in my time of need. Help me live a life of worship, prioritizing praise, especially when I’m struggling. Help me trust that my hope and salvation are found in you alone. Renew my mind, today. Rejuvenate my spirit. Comfort my soul. Create in me a pure heart, a heart of gratitude. Calm the storms in my life, Lord. Calm the storms within me, too. In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.

Read Isaiah 40:31. Are you in need of renewed strength, today? Are you tired? Weary? Worn out? Stressed and stretched thin? Wait on the Lord. Often, we try to handle all that we face on our own strength. We put a smile on and say we’re fine, when the truth is we’re exhausted. Sometimes, the answers we seek are found in the waiting. Instead of rushing ahead on our own and getting worn out, why not wait on the God with wisdom that far surpasses our own, and who loves us at full capacity? In turn, waiting on the Lord, seeking his guidance, and spending time in his presence will renew our strength, granting us perseverance, allowing us to run the race God has marked out for us. Wait on the Lord, today.

Let’s Pray:
Lord, help me trust you completely. When I am tired and in need of strength I don’t have, help me turn to you. Draw me into a deeper relationship with you. Grow me and mature me, today. Help me prioritize time in your presence. Give me wisdom. Help me live obedient to your Word. Help me not to rush ahead on my own, but to wait on your guidance and leadership. Renew my strength today, that I might run the race you have marked out for me. In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.

Read Colossians 3:12-13. God has graciously given us another day on earth as his People: his change agents, light bearers, and good news bringers. In light of this grace, may we carefully and intentionally choose our words and actions today, letting our kindness, compassion, and patience point people to a God who is good. May we remember that in God’s mercy, he has forgiven our sins countless times, and may this lived experience stir us up to be forgiving toward others. May we walk in humility, today, bearing with one another, and remembering that every person we come in contact with is someone made in the image of God, whom Jesus died for. Read Colossians 3:12-13 once more.

Let’s Pray:
Lord, thank you for waking me up this morning. Thank you for giving me life and for giving me another opportunity to live as one of your People. Thank you for your forgiveness. Because I’ve been forgiven, help me forgive others, today. Help me choose my words and actions carefully. Fill me with kindness, compassion, and patience that comes from connection with you. Give me a tender heart, a rational mind, and strong character. Help me humbly walk with you, today, and fill me with love for all those made in your image. In all I say and do let me honor you, and point others to you. In Jesus’ name I pray,
Amen.
