Psalm 33:1-12
Common English Bible

33 All you who are righteous,
shout joyfully to the Lord!
It’s right for those who do right to praise God.
2 Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre!
Sing praises to him with the ten-stringed harp!
3 Sing to him a new song!
Play your best with joyful shouts!
4 Because the Lord’s word is right,
his every act is done in good faith.
5 He loves righteousness and justice;
the Lord’s faithful love fills the whole earth.
6 The skies were made by the Lord’s word,
all their starry multitude by the breath of his mouth.
7 He gathered the ocean waters into a heap;
he put the deep seas into storerooms.
8 All the earth honors the Lord;
all the earth’s inhabitants stand in awe of him.
9 Because when he spoke, it happened!
When he commanded, there it was!

10 The Lord overrules what the nations plan;
he frustrates what the peoples intend to do.
11 But the Lord’s plan stands forever;
what he intends to do lasts from one generation to the next.
12 The nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom God has chosen as his possession,
is truly happy!

Dear friends,

Though summer is still officially a couple of weeks away, the beginning of June always feels like summertime to me. School is out. Vacations are starting. Days are long and warm. Our denominations Annual Conference is next week in Billings. I hope you are able to enjoy this time of year.

As I mentioned the Mountain Sky Annual Conference is next week, June 11-13 in Billings. Pastors and lay members from United Methodist churches in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and one church in Idaho will be gathering for worship and ministry. From our church, Wes Hill and Cherie Mondragon will be our lay representatives. Bishop Kristen Stoneking will be presiding. This year’s theme is The Way of Loving Boldly. During Annual Conference, petitions will be presented and voted on. A budget for the coming year will be approved. Lay and clergy nominees for the General Conference in 2028 will be elected. Candidates for ordination will be presented to the Clergy Session to be voted on, and on Saturday those approved will be ordained in a wonderful ceremony. It is an important time in the life of our church. Please keep all attendees in your prayers.

This Sunday in worship we will look at the story of Jesus calling Matthew to become one of the disciples. Matthew was a surprising choice, for he was a despised tax collector. In our day and age, tax collectors are perhaps not our favorite people, but for the first century Jews in Israel, tax collectors were hated, and sometimes rightly so. So, why did Jesus wish for him to be one of the disciples? We will explore that questions Sunday.

It is also the first Sunday of the month, and as is our tradition, we will celebrate Holy Communion during our worship service.

Our service begins at 9:30 each and every Sunday morning, and is live streamed on our page for those who cannot worship with us in person. Whether in person, or on-line, we are blessed by your presence. We are your hometown church on the corner of Second and Pine Street, just south of the brand new teacherage being built.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Blessings!
Pastor David

Open our ears that we may hear your voice, O God. Open our eyes that we may see your invitations to your Spirit. Open our hearts that we may receive your blessings and keep them open so that we may freely share them with others. Would you fill us with faith to follow you into unknown places and give us the sensitivity to your Spirit to know we’re not going it alone? In Christ’s name, we pray, Amen.

Psalm 8
Common English Bible
For the music leader. According to the Gittith.
A psalm of David.
8 Lord, our Lord, how majestic
is your name throughout the earth!
You made your glory higher than heaven!
2 From the mouths of nursing babies
you have laid a strong foundation
because of your foes,
in order to stop vengeful enemies.
3 When I look up at your skies,
at what your fingers made—
the moon and the stars
that you set firmly in place—
4 what are human beings
that you think about them;
what are human beings
that you pay attention to them?
5 You’ve made them only slightly less than divine,
crowning them with glory and grandeur.
6 You’ve let them rule over your handiwork,
putting everything under their feet—
7 all sheep and all cattle,
the wild animals too,
8 the birds in the sky,
the fish of the ocean,
everything that travels the pathways of the sea.
9 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name throughout the earth!

Triune God, we pause in awareness that there is much about your nature as Three-in-One that feels complicated, confusing, or mysterious. But even in the mystery, we can see unity of purpose that is rooted in Love and invites us into partnership. Open our hearts and minds and equip our hands as we become co-creators with you and grow as your disciples. We pray this in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. No

Dear friends, It was great to see many of you at the Memorial Day observance at the Roberts Cemetery this past Monday. It is always moving to remember those who gave so much for our country.

This coming Sunday in worship we will hear Jesus’ Great Commission to his disciples. After his resurrection, Jesus called his disciples to a mountain in Galilee and there told them to go and make disciples of all the world. This commission from Jesus to go and make disciples moved the once hesitant disciples into becoming Spirit led ambassadors for Christ. What does it mean to make disciples? What does it mean to be a disciple?

Also, this Sunday we celebrate the church observance of Trinity Sunday. Unlike Christmas, Easter or Pentecost (which we celebrated last Sunday), Trinity Sunday is not based on an event, but rather a concept. On Trinity Sunday we recognize that our understanding of God, as presented in the New Testament, calls us to proclaim that there is One God who is known or revealed in three distinct ways – as the Father Creator, as the Son Savior, and as the Holy Spirit Guide.

Our Church Council will meet following worship this Sunday. We have dedicated people who discuss and make decisions for our church. Pray for them as they meet.

We are located on the corner of Second Street and Pine. Our worship begins each Sunday at 9:30 and is followed by a time of fellowship and refreshment. If you cannot worship with us in person, you are always invited to join us via our page. You bless us with your presence.

Come worship with us. We are your hometown church right in the heart of Roberts. We'd love to see you soon.

Blessings
Pastor David

Psalm 104:24-34
Common English Bible
24 Lord, you have done so many things!
You made them all so wisely!
The earth is full of your creations!
25 And then there’s the sea, wide and deep,
with its countless creatures—
living things both small and large.
26 There go the ships on it,
and Leviathan, which you made, plays in it!
27 All your creations wait for you
to give them their food on time.
28 When you give it to them, they gather it up;
when you open your hand, they are filled completely full!
29 But when you hide your face, they are terrified;
when you take away their breath,
they die and return to dust.
30 When you let loose your breath, they are created,
and you make the surface of the ground brand-new again.

31 Let the Lord’s glory last forever!
Let the Lord rejoice in all he has made!
32 He has only to look at the earth, and it shakes.
God just touches the mountains, and they erupt in smoke.

33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I’m still alive.
34 Let my praise be pleasing to him;
I’m rejoicing in the Lord!

35b But let my whole being bless the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
