Isaiah 9:2 English Standard Version (ESV)
2 [a] The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone.
As I sat in the Worship Service this morning, I noticed the stained glass windows. The image below is not from our Church, but it is similar in that it visualizes some aspect of the life of Christ. Stain glass windows were originally placed in Cathedrals and Churches to tell about Christ and his life, for those who were unable to read, or did not have copies of scriptures.
The dazzling light of the sun passed through the stain glass brilliantly to those of us within the walls of the Church. On the outside, after the service, the color was dull, not really noticeable to anyone.
I pondered how during worship, we received the light from Christ through prayer, praise, and the Word of God. The light was seen within. My mind wandered to the lack of that light visible from outside the windows.
Then it occurred to me that the light of those windows reflects brightly in the darkness of the world. At night you can clearly see the beauty of windows as the light streams out from within. The story of Christ is clear to those outside of the building.
We are to carry the light. The darkness in Robersonville among those who do not know Christ, has to be shattered by the light of Christ, and the Gospel we are to share as Christian's. WE ARE THE LIGHT IN THIS DARK WORLD for CHRIST. We must be out in the darkness.
I was at the Billy Graham Library this week. I was in awe of just how many people saw that light in Rev. Billy Graham. Do people see that light in us? Are we being responsible carriers of the Light of Christ. Be the Light this week. Now is a great time to start a conversation about Christ, as we celebrate His birth.
God bless.
