Refugio Solte

Refugio Solte Refugio Solté is a place for rest, renewal, and training for current and emerging leaders. Land for the center was purchased in 2003.

Refugio Solte is a ministry under the umbrella of Answering the Call, an international missions organization devoted to reaching people in difficult to reach places. Both Refugio Solte and Answering the Call were founded by directors, David and Joy Fuller. While working on staff as missions pastor at a local church, David was traveling to many regions of the world ministering the love of Jesus. He

was in the Middle East when God began to download a vision of a center where pastors and leaders could go for rest, refuge, ministry, and training. In 2002, after much prayer, David left his position as missions pastor and launched Answering the Call, a non-profit 501(c)3 missions organization. ATC feels called to go to places that others don’t or aren’t able to go. Their mission is to come alongside indigenous leaders of other nations encouraging and equipping them to minister in their own communities and surrounding countries, as well as give care and relief to the poor, orphaned, and needy. The vision of a ministry center for leaders began taking shape as soon as Answering the Call was founded in 2002. A road was cleared and constructed up a steep and curvy mountain. Workers from various churches and organizations came over the following 6 years to build a beautiful retreat center known as Refugio Solte, in the middle of the rainforest located in Costa Rica. Refugio Solte means “a place of refuge where I let go”. ATC continues to go to the nations to encourage the people on the ground and in the trenches. The goal for both Answering the Call and Refugio Solte is to come alongside Kingdom ministers and provide refuge, rest, and training, empowering them in their calling. Colossians 2:2 sums it up well, “We are devoted to investing in the lives of people from every nation in order that they be “encouraged in heart, united in love and know the mystery of God, mainly Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

What happened to the backup generator? Jungle life probably. Will you pray about giving toward a new one? Things have nearly doubled since we last purchased our current one 9 years ago. Hello friends!

If you are open for an opportunity to serve, we have a retreat you can jump in on as a volunteer. It’s a bit last minute, but the Lord is moving and we are moving with Him.
What it is: Pastoral Care Retreat
Who is attending : Pastors and leaders from churches and ministries from all over Costa Rica
Who is teaching: Jim and Nita Tarter and ATC director David Fuller
When it’s happening: May 14-20 (yes, of this year 2021)
What we need help with: cooking, cleaning, ministering in prayer, leading worship, counseling, encouraging (any or all of the above).
The cost: $800
What that includes: all transportation in country pertaining to the retreat, lodging and all meals at Refugio Solté, excursiones to beaches and waterfalls, and Covid-19 test required for you to return home.
What’s not included: airfare, any meals off-site or extra-curricular tourism expeditions.
Purpose: Provide a time of rest, renewal and training to pastors and leaders. As we all know, the past year has been a daunting challenge. We desire to uplift and encourage the men and women who are on the frontlines of ministries around the country. Their work is vital. Burnout is real, and we want to come alongside what the Lord is saying: You are not alone. My yoke is easy. My burden is light. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will lift you up with my righteous right hand.
