The link below should take you to "Lydia, Judged to be Faithful," this week's Bible Lesson from Colonial Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. The Scripture comes from Acts 16:11-40,, and it covers Paul and Silas on Paul's second missionary journey that took them, among other places, to Philippi in the Roman province of Macedonia, located in today's northeast region of Greece.. They found a place near a local river where people went to pray, and Paul met Lydia, a Gentile woman who loved God and worked as a dealer in purple cloth. Seeing her faith, Paul baptized Lydia, and she offered Paul and Silas the hospitality of her house. Paul also met a slave woman, but while he used Jesus' name to cast out her demons, he did not offer baptism. After a time spent in jail for teaching and preaching about Jesus and where he converted the jailer, Paul and Silas continued to spread the good news of God among the Gentiles. The link below should take you to "Timothy, the Influence of Home Training," this week's Bible Lesson from Colonial Presbyterian Church in Roanoke. The Scripture comes from Acts 16:1-3, Philippians 2:19-22, and 2 Timothy 1:1-6 and 3:14-16. The Apostle Paul mentored Timothy. a young man who started traveling with Paul when in his late teens, through Paul's second and third missionary journeys to carry the message of "the Way" to Gentiles in much of today's Turkey and Greece. Before that, Timothy grew up in a family of mixed heritage. His father was Greek, and his mother Eunice and grandmother Lois were Jewish believers in Jesus.
