🚗 Funeral Procession Etiquette: Showing Respect on the Road

When you encounter a funeral procession, it’s a moment to pause and show respect for a family saying their final goodbye. Understanding proper etiquette helps ensure the procession moves safely and with dignity.

Here are a few important things to remember:

• Yield the right of way. Funeral processions typically have the right of way at intersections, even if the light changes.
• Do not cut into the procession. Wait until the entire line of vehicles has passed before continuing.
• Pull over when appropriate. If you see a procession approaching from behind, slowing down or pulling over is a respectful gesture.
• Drive patiently and carefully. Families and loved ones are grieving—allow them space and time.
• Keep distractions to a minimum. Avoid honking or rushing past the line of vehicles.

A funeral procession is a long-standing tradition that honors the life of the person who has passed and shows support for their loved ones. A small act of courtesy on the road can mean a great deal.
