On the morning of Sunday, May 31, Fr. Ibrahim Barakat celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Feast of Pentecost, assisted by the church deacons and choir, in the presence of the faithful of the parish.
During the service, Fr. Ibrahim performed the traditional blessing of the water associated with this feast and sprinkled the church and the congregation as a symbol of the descent of the Holy Spirit. In his homily, he spoke about Pentecost as the “Birthday of the Church,” explaining that through the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, their fear was transformed into courage, and they were granted strength and spiritual gifts to go forth into the world and begin their missionary work and proclamation of the Gospel. For this reason, the feast is considered a commemoration of the Church’s mission and its beginning in the world.
Fr. Ibrahim concluded his homily with a prayer that the Holy Spirit may descend upon all people, granting them reassurance, courage, and the peace that was bestowed upon the disciples when the Spirit came upon them in the Upper Room. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, he extended his greetings and best wishes to the faithful on the occasion of this blessed feast.
احتفل الأب إبراهيم بركات صباح يوم الأحد 31 أيار بالقداس الإلهي بمناسبة عيد العنصرة، بمشاركة شمامسة وكورال الكنيسة، وبحضور جمعٍ من المؤمنين أبناء الرعية.
وخلال القداس، أقام الأب إبراهيم طقس تبريك الماء الخاص بهذا العيد، كما قام برش الكنيسة والمؤمنين بالماء المبارك رمزاً لحلول الروح القدس. وفي عظته، تحدث عن عيد العنصرة باعتباره «عيد ميلاد الكنيسة»، موضحاً أن حلول الروح القدس على التلاميذ بدّد خوفهم ومنحهم القوة والشجاعة والمواهب الروحية، فانطلقوا إلى العالم أجمع ليبدأوا رسالتهم التبشيرية وكرازتهم بالإنجيل. ولهذا السبب يُعد هذا العيد تذكاراً لانطلاقة الكنيسة ورسالتها في العالم.
وختم الأب إبراهيم عظته بالصلاة إلى الله أن يرسل روحه القدوس ليحلّ على العالم أجمع، فيمنح الجميع الطمأنينة والشجاعة والسلام الذي منحه لتلاميذه عندما حلّ عليهم في العلية. وفي ختام القداس، هنّأ المؤمنين وعايدهم بمناسبة هذا العيد المبارك.
