As I write this I am asking the Lord to bring the encouragement that our body needs during this time. Everywhere we turn, the main topic of discussion is COVID-19. Many events, schools and churches are choosing to close. But what about Dwelling Place? Should we continue along as normal during times that definitely are not normal.
On the one hand we do not wish to be ruled by the fear that seems to have gripped the whole world, struggling to find shelter from and answers about Coronavirus. On the other, we must be prudent and take steps to care for each other at this critical time. How we respond is vital.
After careful consideration, we have made the very difficult decision to NOT meet for worship service this evening at the WAREHOUSE. This decision was made to care for the community at large and to exercise the level of caution that is considered appropriate for the day – that is, not driven from fear, but from of a sense wanting to be responsible to our community. For all of us, a couple of thoughts:
1. God always was and is still in control
2. God is not surprised by the coronavirus and “works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose” (reference Romans 8:28)
3. It is critical for us to remember who we are. We have talked about this in recent weeks. We must remember who He says He is, and who He says we are. By His grace alone, we are the hands, eyes, ears, feet, etc., of Jesus. Whatever that means for you individually, the Holy Spirit will show you. As the Holy Spirit leads you in whatever unique way He chooses to lead you today and in the upcoming days, walk in the confidence of His leading. He has a purpose for each one of us and for our body in the midst of these times.
4. We must keep our eyes focused on Jesus, because He is the One worthy of our attention. Although we should take necessary precautions, we do not have to live in fear.
Scriptures to meditate on:
Hebrews 12:1-3
Psalm: 145:8-21
In these uncertain times when people are fearful and searching for answers, we need to remember that we know the truth, which we can boldly share. Lean into God. We can trust Him. His wisdom will guide us. He is a good, good Father.
Since our president has declared this a national day of prayer, we (Kevin and Sherry) have decided that we will open our home at 4:00pm 5:30pm for any and all who feel comfortable coming for a time of worship and prayer. If you feel led to meet elsewhere in small groups, please do so.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. – 2 Thessalonians 3:16
