“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18–19a)
Do you ever find yourself stuck in the past? Remembering and celebrating the past can be valuable—to a point. Yet God challenges us not to become so focused on what is behind us that we miss what God is doing ahead of us.
Instead, God invites us to look forward with faith and expectation, trusting that He is always at work bringing new opportunities, new growth, and new possibilities for His people.
So today, I challenge all of us—both as individuals and as churches—to open our hearts and minds to the new thing God wants to do in and through us. Rather than dwelling on yesterday, let us seek God’s direction for today and anticipate what God has in store for the future.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
I know some of you are probably wondering, “When will it be done?” I am talking about the construction that began on Interstate 81 in February 2022. Like many of you, I am looking forward to its completion, but I also realize that projects like this take time, patience, and a lot of work.
Some of you may be wondering why I am starting a newsletter by talking about road construction. Well, this morning as I was driving down the interstate, I thought to myself how much this mirrors what takes place in our faith journey. Growth in faith doesn’t happen overnight. Just like road construction, there are seasons of disruption, detours, and waiting. There are times when progress seems slow and moments when we wonder if anything is really changing at all.
Yet, little by little, God is at work in us. Through prayer, scripture, worship, fellowship, and trusting Him daily, He shapes us into something new. The old ways begin to fade, and Christ continues building and renewing our hearts. It takes time and energy to grow in faith, but God promises that as we grow closer to Him, we will not only be blessed ourselves, but we will also become a blessing to those around us.
So, I leave you with these thoughts: Are you growing in faith? Are you making time for the disciplines that help you become more like Jesus? If not, maybe it is time to let the construction project begin in your life. And as God continues His work in you, look for the blessings that come along during the journey.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9, NIV)
We often say that Jesus is King and Lord of our lives, but what does that truly mean for us day to day?
If Jesus is really Lord, then He is not just part of our lives; He leads them. Yet honestly, it’s worth asking ourselves: are we giving Him our best or just our leftovers?
Take a serious look at your calendar. Look at where your paycheck goes, where your energy is spent, what occupies your thoughts and priorities. Where does Jesus fit? Is He directing the course of your life, or does He only get the time and attention that remain after everything else is done?
Those questions can be uncomfortable, but they are important. Following Jesus is more than words we say on Sunday — it’s a daily surrender of our hearts, our plans, our time, and our resources.
So here’s the challenge for all of us: let’s make sure Jesus is truly Lord of our lives. Let’s give Him not what is left over, but our best — our trust, our obedience, our priorities, and our whole hearts. Because a King deserves more than convenience; He deserves our all.
