Gospel Light Baptist Church In October 2008, the Lord led Doug Ellis and his family to plant Gospel Light Baptist Church (an Independent Baptist Church) in Roanoke, Texas!

Today we are located on the hilltop. Our church sits on the highest point in Roanoke Texas overlooking Hwy 114.

Good afternoon everyone. At around 3:30pm yesterday, a truck hit a utility pole near the church and took down some power lines. The electricity was out but is now restored. This has also caused our internet to temporarily go down and we will not be live streaming our services on Facebook tomorrow.

A lot has been made of the 250th birthday of our nation and rightfully so. One of the most descriptive words that we hear regarding the United States of America is 'Freedom'. Let us not forget that 'Freedom' comes with a heavy cost. There is no such thing as 'Free'. We have the right to live 'Free' because of the countless soldiers who stood in the gap.

Romans 6:23 says 'For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord'. We speak about the 'Free' gift of Salvation, but nothing, including Salvation is 'Free'. Our Salvation and Eternal Life cost God the Father his Only Son. Nothing is 'Free'!
