Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church

Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church The Church of the Open Door "The Church of the Open Door" welcomes all ages, shapes, and sizes. RCPC stands firmly in the reformed, Presbyterian tradition.

Our worship seeks to glorify God, centered on the hearing and preaching of the Word, and the participation of the people in sacrament, song, and prayer. We are a people with a servant's heart. We are a congregation that is serious about being and making disciples. We believe that the Church is made up of people who have a heart dedicated to being followers of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy

Spirit. We believe that every member finds their joy in pursuing Christ’s call to their unique ministry and that is a nontraditional proposition affecting every aspect of our individual and corporate lives. This is a goal toward which we strive, not a destination at which we have arrived. We invite you to explore this journey with us.

Join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM on Mill Mountain for worship and a potluck picnic! Don’t forget to bring a chair and a water bottle!

Our worship service on Sunday, June 7, will be at Mill Mountain at 10:00 AM, with a potluck brunch at the picnic shelter to follow. The Fellowship Committee will provide coffee, juice, water, and biscuit sandwiches from Scratch Biscuit. We invite all the great RCPC cooks (and we know there are many of you) to bring your best homemade breakfast/lunch (BRUNCH) recipes because they are always grabbed up first. You can also bring fresh fruit, homemade bread, etc. Since RCPC prides itself on “going green,” we urge each of you to bring your personal water bottle as well as a chair for the service, meal, and time of fellowship. Youth are needed to help bring things from the parking lot to the picnic shelter beginning at 9:40 AM.

Communion will be served as part of the worship service.

Nursery care will be available for children ages 3 and younger. There will not be children's worship; kids ages 4 and older will be with their families during the service.

An abbreviated service will be held at RCPC on Sunday, June 7, at 8:00 AM for anyone unable to attend at Mill Mountain. This service will also be livestreamed on our Facebook and YouTube channels.

We were honored to be a part of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church's Legacy Sunday in late May, which recognizes nonprofits and other organizations that have been supported by the church. Board members Leigh Ann Hamlin and Autumn Visser were there to represent The Wild Way and speak to the congregation about the impact of their donation. And the impact has been HUGE - it's thanks to Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church that we have our glorious Wild Way van, which has enabled us to not only hold more events, but to also hold more events that reach the most in-need and vulnerable populations.

THANK YOU, Raleigh Court Presbyterian, for all that you do to make the Roanoke Valley better!

Supporting Our Neighbors Through The Rescue Mission of Roanoke

In June, our loose plate offerings will support the vital work of the Rescue Mission of Roanoke, an organization dedicated to caring for some of the most vulnerable members of our community with compassion, dignity, and hope.

Specifically, our giving will help sustain the Mission’s Community Health Worker, Greyson. In this role, Greyson reaches beyond the walls of the Rescue Mission to connect with individuals who are not currently using Rescue Mission services—many of whom are experiencing homelessness, isolation, or significant health challenges. Through consistent outreach, listening, and relationship-building, Greyson helps connect people with medical care, resources, and pathways toward stability. For those who are already guests of the Rescue Mission, Greyson provides a deeper level of personal contact—walking alongside them, understanding their individual needs, and helping coordinate care that supports both physical and emotional well-being.

This position has been funded through a grant, but that grant has ended. Our loose plate offering in June will help to bridge funding to continue this service until the Rescue Mission finds a more permanent solution.

Reminder that tomorrow we are joined virtually by the Rev. Dr. Isabelle Hamley. If you are unable to join us at the church, you can join via Zoom from home. The Zoom link was listed in Monday's This Week @ RCPC email, or message us for the details.

To kick off our summer series, we will be joined by the Rev. Dr. Isabelle Hamley of Cambridge University in the United Kingdom for an online lecture and Q&A. Dr. Hamley is the head of religious life for the university, serves as a counselor to the Archbishop of Canterbury and has served as an ecumenical partner to Pope Francis, and the author of the recent theological commentary God of Justice and Mercy. She will help us to see an overview of this book and its contemporary resonance in our world today.

Wednesday, June 3; Lunch in the Fellowship Hall at Noon and Lecture at 1:00 at RCPC and via Zoom Link in Monday's This Week @ RCPC email. For those who cannot attend in person or online, a recording of the lecture will be posted afterward. RSVP for lunch by Monday at noon: tinyurl.com/June3LunchRSVP
