Redemption Church

Redemption Church You were made for rest, we were made to help. Join the mission with us. We're thankful for our Mercy Hill family, and sad to leave them. We get that!

As a team of about 20 people, we were sent from Mercy Hill Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. But we're also glad to get to Roanoke and build a new family that gives God glory and gives us joy. Our culture is restless... unsatisfied... always searching for more. We felt the same way until someone shared the good news about Jesus with us. The good news is, though we can never find rest on our ow

n, God will give us rest when we trust in Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. We know it's hard to swallow in a world that doesn't trust "religion" or a world where miracles are viewed with skepticism. But, our faith ultimately hinges on the Bible and how trustworthy we believe it is. And we trust that what it says about Jesus is true, that he began a movement to transform the culture from the inside out over 2000 years ago that still continues to this day. Our goal is to multiply Jesus-followers who transform into culture-leaders. We want to BE the movement that Jesus began in the world because he moved in our hearts and began that movement in us first. We're thankful for his transformation, and hope you'll want to join in the movement with us. Thanks for checking us out!

Yesterday was a great day at Redemption as we kicked off our new series through Exodus: Delivered. 🍩

The donuts were a hit, but even better were the conversations, laughter, and connections happening before and after service. We were reminded that fear does not have to control us. The only fear that should shape our lives is a proper fear of God, living in awe of who He is.

We can’t wait to continue this journey through Exodus together. See you next Sunday!

Christians don't do good in the world because we're naturally courageous.

We don't stand for truth because we're fearless.
We don't love difficult people because it's easy.
We don't obey God because we're stronger than everyone else.

The difference is that God has become bigger to us than the things we fear.

When God is small, fear grows.
When God is big, fear shrinks.

That's what happened with the Hebrew midwives in Exodus. They weren't fearless. They simply feared God more than they feared Pharaoh.

And the same thing is true for us.

What fear would lose its grip on your life if God became bigger in your eyes?

One of the hardest parts of parenting is realizing you can’t change your child’s heart.

You can teach. Correct. Guide. Encourage. Protect.

But you cannot force conviction, manufacture repentance, or make faith come alive.

That’s why this line hit so hard: “Prayer is not what parents do when they’ve lost control. It’s what parents do because God is always in control.”

Sometimes prayer is the most powerful thing you can do.

A new series begins this Sunday: Delivered - From Slavery to Worship

God didn’t just save you from something. He saved you for something.

In Exodus, we see a God who sees suffering, rescues His people, and reshapes them for a new way of life.

We’ll have donuts and coffee in the lobby as a fun way to kick off our new series!

Invite someone and join us Sunday.

Every parent wants a guarantee: “If I do this right, my kids will turn out right.”

But Proverbs 16:9 reminds us: “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”

A lot of parents are carrying pressure God never asked them to carry. Trying to control every outcome. Trying to protect their kids from every mistake. Wondering if they’ve already messed things up.

This week’s sermon was a reminder that faithfulness matters deeply… but only God changes hearts. Which applies way beyond parenting too.

So thankful for what God did in our church yesterday.

We talked about what it looks like to trust God with the results of our kids. To parent intentionally, pray faithfully, and remember that while we shape direction, only God changes hearts.

That truth doesn’t just apply to parenting. We all struggle to control outcomes. But faithfulness is our responsibility. The results belong to God.

Some of you grew up in homes that shaped you deeply… and not always in good ways.

Passive parents.
Harsh parents.
Distant parents.
Even homes where faith felt more like pressure than grace.

But this line from the sermon hit hard: “That may be part of my story, but it will not be the lord of my story.”

Healing starts when you stop pretending what hurt you was normal, but you also don’t let it define you, only Jesus can!

Last Sunday of our Wise Family series this weekend.

We’re talking about what it means to trust God with the outcome of our kids. Because at some level, every parent feels the pressure to control what only God can ultimately carry.

But honestly, this message is bigger than parenting.

Whether you have kids or not, all of us wrestle with trusting God with the direction, outcomes, and control of our lives.

See you tomorrow!
