Our Shepard, our Brother Knight.

We implore your kindness, O God, for Father Joe, your servant and Priest, that, as you made him a steward of your mysteries on earth, so you may bring him to be nourished by their truth and reality as unveiled in heaven. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

It is with sadness that we write to inform you that Father Joe, pastor of OLN for 22 years, passed away this afternoon at Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. As Father Joe’s family finalizes his arrangements, we will be in touch to inform you of their plans. In the meantime, please keep his siblings and family in your prayers, especially his mother Beverly.

He was our shepherd and we his sheep. He leaves behind the witness of a good life that was directed by the love of God. He leaves behind an example of generous sacrifice that made a positive difference that extended well beyond the walls of the parishes he served. And he leaves behind a legacy of faith and hope, reminding us to “To see thee more clearly, love thee more dearly, follow thee more nearly.”

Hear with favor our prayers, which we humbly offer, O Lord, for the salvation of the soul of Father Joe, your servant and Priest, that he, who devoted a lifetime of faithful ministry to your name, may rejoice in the perpetual company of your Saints. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“The Catholic Church is clear that, in itself it is a good and meritorious thing freely to donate…actions such as giving blood can be a powerful expression of human solidarity and of Christian charity. Such actions can help build a culture of life, a culture in which life is cherished…encourages people to think of serving others in this way, as a form of Christian charity.”- Most Rev. Peter Smith, Archbishop of Southwark

Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly’s statement following the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization:

“Today’s decision is a testimony to the hard work of countless people over many years and an inspiration for the work that lies ahead. … It is a crucial time for us to come together and continue to express our love and support for unborn children, and for women who are in difficult pregnancies. We must continue to grow the pro-life safety net the Knights of Columbus has long supported. In a post-Roe world, the Knights will continue to be there for mothers and their children, and we will continue to proclaim the dignity of every human life.”
