Words have the power to create worlds — and there is one Word that created everything.

Today is International Literacy Day, and while we celebrate the ability to read as one of the greatest tools of human dignity and freedom, the church wants to point to the Word that stands above every other word ever written.

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." — Hebrews 4:12 KJV

That Word is alive. That Word is active. That Word is still dividing light from darkness in the lives of people who open it today.

Literacy gives a person access to knowledge. But the Word of God gives a person access to God Himself — and that changes everything.

On this International Literacy Day, we encourage you: read widely, read with curiosity — and above all else, read the Word. It will do in you what nothing else can.

Happy Labor Day from your HRM family! 🙏

Today we honor the work — and more than that, we honor the workers. Every person who shows up day after day, who gives their hands and their time to provide for their families and contribute to this world, is doing something that God sees and God values.

"And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men."
— Colossians 3:23 KJV

Whatever your hands find to do — do it with excellence. Do it with integrity. Do it as an act of worship to the God who gave you every ability you possess and who promises that your labor in Him is never in vain.

Rest today if you can. Celebrate the work. Give thanks for the provision. And remember that the same God who rested on the seventh day worked with purpose for six — and called it good.

There are shelves full of books that can inform you, inspire you, and entertain you. But there is only one Book that can transform you.

The Bible is not a book you read once and put down. It is a book you return to for the rest of your life and find something new every single time — because the God who wrote it is inexhaustible. His depths cannot be reached in a lifetime of reading, but the closer you get, the more you discover that the closer you get is the closer you want to be.

Pick up the Word today. Don't just read it — let it read you. Let it speak into the places you have been keeping quiet. Let it answer the questions you have been carrying alone.

Every Thursday evening, we gather in person for Christian Education Bible Study — a time to dig into the scriptures together, ask the hard questions, grow in understanding, and leave more rooted in the Word than when we walked in. This is not a lecture. This is a community of believers pressing together into the truth of God.
