The safety of parishioners comes first. It is not a sin to miss Mass due to dangerous weather and road conditions. When one is unable to attend Sunday Mass, there is still an obligation to observe the Lord's Day on Sunday with time in prayer. This could include watching a livestreamed Mass as a family. You can read and pray with the Sunday Mass readings here https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/012526.cfm . You could pray the Holy Rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
High School Youth Ministry on Sunday Night, Middle School Youth Ministry on Monday afternoon and OCIA on Monday night are also cancelled.
Please stay safe! Thank you and God bless!

Good news!

Today, the National Christopher Columbus Association has released a statement upon the announcement of the restoration of the Columbus Memorial Fountain by the National Park Service as part of the rehabilitation of several fountains throughout Washington, DC.

The fountain is the usual site of the annual National Columbus Day Ceremony. We look forward to having our ceremony on the site this year with a restored fountain as the backdrop.

“The Columbus Memorial Fountain has stood for more than a century as a welcoming symbol at the threshold of our Nation’s Capital, greeting millions of visitors from around the world,” said Timothy Saccoccia, President of the National Christopher Columbus Association. “We are grateful for this effort to restore this historic monument so that it continues to honor Columbus not only as a historical figure, but as an enduring idea - one that celebrates the courage to explore, the curiosity to encounter new worlds, and the cultural foundations of our nation.”
