Riverside United Methodist Church Pastor Dave Haase - Riverside U.M.C. Blog
We welcome all who view our ministry online. We have a lot of mission we support outside our church.

If you wish to help us with the cost of ministry, send it to the address below. We believe that we are all theologians. God calls us to clarify and communicate our faith--to put our beliefs into words--for ourselves and for others. We do this using four sources or guidelines recommended to us by John Wesley:
1. Scripture--inspired by the Holy Spirit when it was written and when it is read; we are

also aided by the research of biblical scholarship.
2. The church's tradition--the ever-renewed understandings of the faith community down through the ages.
3. Christian experience--the church's and our personal experience of God's healing love, the gift of new life in Christ.
4. Our reason--our capacity to analyze, compare, and come to sound judgments. "These four sources--each making distinctive contributions, yet all finally working together--guide our quest as United Methodist for a vital and appropriate Christians witness" We are invited--and called--to use these guidelines in making decisions in our lives in the world.

Pastor David Haase to retire from ministry
There will retirement celebration on Sunday June 28 from 11am to 12:30pm at Riverside
United Methodist Church, 4401 Fikes Rd, Benton Harbor. This is open to the public.
Pastor Dave Haase of Watervliet started his pastoral career in July 2007 serving at the
Breedsville United Methodist Church, Breedsville, MI., A few months later he was asked to
add Townline United United Methodist Church, Bloomingdale, MI. He served these two
congregations for seven years. In July of 2014 he came to Riverside United Methodist
Church and has served there for the past twelve years.
In addition to serving Riverside Methodist, Pastor Dave currently serves as chaplain for
Watervliet Fire Dept. and VFW Post 1137, Watervliet. He has previously served as a hospital
chaplain for Lakeland Hospital. Prior to entering into ministry, David worked at Bendix for 37
years retiring in April of 2007.
Sunday June 28 marks the final day that David will be in the pulpit at Riverside United
Methodist Church. We are sincerely honored and blessed that he chose to spend the last
twelve years as our faithful and dedicated pastor.
We asked David what his fondest memory of Riverside is. He said he fell in love with
Riverside and especially the way they embraced him and his wife, Linda, during her lengthy
illness and eventual passing. He said Riverside has defined the meaning of loving your
neighbor.

"Even our feathered friends know where to find Jesus! We had a surprise visitor at the front doors today. We’re not sure if they were looking for a little prayer or just early for the Thanksgiving potluck, but all are welcome here!"
