For Linda and Joe Skelton, it didn't begin with a grand plan. It began with a simple "yes."
Linda first encountered Teen Challenge at a luncheon in the mid-1990s. She and her sister listened to testimonies that were raw, honest, and full of hope.
"It was just so amazing what God was doing in their lives," she remembers. "We just fell in love with the ministry."
Joe's first step was even simpler. He volunteered to drive a golf cart at an event.
What started small became a lifelong calling.
Over the years, they have poured thousands of hours into the lives of men at Inland Empire Teen Challenge. Linda, a retired teacher, found her place in the High School Equivalency program, helping men who once felt written off rediscover purpose and possibility.
"Some aren't even interested when they start," she says. "But when they finish, they're so proud of themselves… and we're proud of them too."
Joe's impact is quieter, but just as powerful. To many of the men, he became what they had never known. A steady, faithful presence. A mentor. A spiritual father.
"Just interacting with the men, seeing the light bulb go off… it's been a major blessing in my life," he shares.
Together, they've walked alongside hundreds of students through classes, conversations, and moments of breakthrough. They've seen men arrive broken and leave transformed.
And somewhere along the way, those students became family.
That is the heart of their story. Not recognition. Not spotlight. But faithfulness. A simple "yes" that turned into decades of service.
Stories like theirs remind us that transformation does not happen in isolation. It happens through people who give their time, their love, and their lives to see others restored.
And it is made possible through the support of people like you.
When you give to Teen Challenge, you are not just supporting a program. You are investing in moments like these. Classrooms where confidence is rebuilt. Relationships that carry people forward long after they leave.
You are helping write stories of freedom, one life at a time. Just like Linda and Joe have.
Will you join them?
