Wise Woman or Foolish Woman?

Proverbs 14:1

“The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish pulls it down with her hands.”

Proverbs gives us such a clear contrast between wisdom and foolishness. A wise woman builds. A foolish woman tears down.

That can happen through our words, our attitudes, our choices, and the counsel we choose to receive.

A wise woman is teachable. Proverbs 12:15 says, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise.” She does not assume she already knows best. She is willing to listen, receive correction, and let God’s Word change her thinking.

A wise woman also exercises self-control. Proverbs 29:11 says, “A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back.” Wisdom means we do not let every feeling control what we say or do.

And ultimately, wisdom begins with our relationship with the Lord.

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” — Proverbs 9:10

So the question for us is not simply, “Do I know a lot?” The question is:

Am I allowing God’s Word to shape the way I live?

This week ask yourself:
Am I building or tearing down? Am I teachable? Are my words and choices reflecting wisdom or foolishness?

Our prayer should be, “Lord, make me a woman who fears You, receives Your instruction, and walks in Your wisdom.”

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth…” — John 16:13

We live in a world filled with opinions. Everyone has a perspective, a feeling, a version of what they believe is true.

But as women of God, we are not called to be led by opinions or even by our feelings. We are called to be led by the Word of God, His truth.

Our feelings can change from day to day. What seems right to us may not always be right. But God’s Word never changes.

That’s why we need the Holy Spirit to guide us into truth. We need Him to help us recognize what is from the Lord, what agrees with His Word, and what does not.

Before we ask, “How do I feel about this?” or “What does everyone else think?” we should first ask:

“Lord, what is true according to Your Word?”

May we be women who know the Word, love the Word, and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our thoughts, decisions, and lives according to His truth.

“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” — John 17:17

Proverbs 3:1-4-
My child never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commandments in your heart. If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying. Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.

“Let the weeds that grow in my soul be cut at their roots; grant me to know that I truly live only when I live to Thee, that all else Is trifling. Thy presence alone can make me holy, devout, and strong. Abide in me, gracious God.”-The Valley of Vision

This prayer is a humble request for God to remove anything in our hearts that keeps us from fully following Him. True spiritual growth doesn’t come from trying harder, but from abiding in Christ. As we remain close to Him, He transforms us, strengthens us, and produces the fruit that only He can give.

“Abide in Me, and I in you… for without Me you can do nothing.” — John 15:4–5

Our final Summer Snapshot was a blessing! We heard from a panel of women in different seasons of life sharing how the Lord has been faithful. After we enjoyed playing bingo. It’s such a joy to come together and be encouraged in the Lord. 📸☀️
