Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

As Pride Month begins today, our church is choosing to center our transgender siblings because the political and religious attacks on trans people are growing and because Love demands we respond.

Last month alone, four transgender people were killed in the United States:
• Eryka Caldwell, 41, fatally stabbed in Brooklyn, NY
• Persia Amarra Conway, 33, found dead in Houston, TX
• Juniper Blessing, 19, fatally stabbed in Seattle, WA
• Nathaniel Potts, 16, killed in Saline County, IL

More than statistics, they are beloved children of God.

🎉 Join us at Riverside's 6th Annual Juneteenth Celebration! 🎉

Our Social & Environmental Justice Committee is honored to have a table at this year's Juneteenth Celebration in Fairmount Park!

Juneteenth (June 19, 1865) marks the day when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom (more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation). It's a day of joy, reflection, and recommitment to Justice and equality for all.

Come celebrate with live music, family fun, food vendors, retail vendors, and community spirit!

If you have a mail-in ballot, don't wait, return it today! If you're planning to vote in person, make your plan now: check your polling location, transportation, and schedule.

As Unitarian Universalists, our value of Justice calls us to support "the use of inclusive democratic processes to make decisions within our congregations, our Association, and society at large." Voting is one of the most fundamental ways we live this value.

UUs are very good at holding complexity.

We can affirm many ways to move through the world, connect to the sacred, or sing a beloved hymn… and still hold firm to the precise dishwasher loading diagram everyone should follow when using the congregation’s kitchen. 😄

That’s the beauty of our shared UU community life: we may not have perfect agreement, but we can be our best imperfect selves practicing how to live together with care, intention, and respect for one another.
